Fixing the new player experience and low elo ranked SUGGESTION.

Playing with a new player recently and playing in silver has taught me two things that urgently need to be addressed.

  1. The amount of smurfs in pre level 30 is absurd. I estimate about 10% of players are high gold to diamond. The average player quality in unranked pre 30 is higher than the average silver game. The games are ultra volatile stomps and not fun.
  2. The amount of unranked new players dropped into Silver is actual new players are a huge problem when they show up. People who don't understand simple things like building a support item are extremely common in high bronze/low silver.

Now, a lot of people (myself included) have said Smurfing is the problem - but this isn't an issue that can actually be solved. Smurfing is a part of League's culture for better or worse, and it needs to be embraced that some new accounts are just smurfs.. So here is what I'm proposing.

When a new player joins League, they can choose if they are a NEW PLAYER or EXPERIENCED PLAYER.

  • The NEW PLAYER will level up from 0-30, gaining rewards. The rewards should be greatly increased. Give the players free skins, emotes, and so on! They should be greatly rewarded for their effort of leveling up.
  • the EXPERIENCED PLAYER (smurf) will skip the tutorial, they will be dropped into level 30. They can immediately do placements.
  • In either case, the champion requirement pool should be eliminated. Make the 14 260 RP champions available on all accounts, while adding 6 additional champions to permanent availability.
  • As well, default MMR should be Bronze V, with all new/experienced players having a 20 game placement series (for better accuracy) the first try at ranked, with the highest possibly placement at the end being GOLD I.

This is just my idea of it. But basically - give smurfs access into ranked instantly since that's why most are smurfing. - Give new players better rewards and keep them away from smurfs. - Lower starting mmr but give the chance to be placed higher instead of dumping everybody in silver.

PS: I am not salty about my rank, or think these ideas will improve my rank. I am ranked for as good as I am (bad). I am only looking for League to be a more enjoyable experience for all, and that is all thank you.

Peace out!

I highly agree with this suggestion and I think this is a great idea that would better help the Ranked Community a bunch, I finally reached Silver V from Bronze III by carrying myself with Yorick Top Lane, took me about a week. Now I am starting Silver V Ranked and noticing a lot of people or playing random champions in all lanes which is a huge problem. I thought Bronze was bad, but playing in Silver is worse, you have people who are boosted and do not know how to play champs or build randomly. I lost to a Jhin Top who built Tank like come on now, some things are good to try, but dont try random champs in random roles during Ranked, do it in a Normal Game, do not screw over the Ranked players trying to climb.

I like the idea of this, but my main problem I could see is by giving goodies to people who say they are new what's to stop non noobs saying they are new and getting the freebies and stomping newbies knowing that at the end of their freebie collecting grind they will still be able to go play ranked having only wasted however long it takes them to grind to 30. I would like to think it wouldn't go that way but I'm pretty sure it would.

Maybe, but the idea is to give smurfs something they'd want more: instant access to ranked, while giving new players a reason to stick around from 1-30; free stuff. If they need to make the 1-30 climb slower to prevent what you're talking about, so be it.

Smurfs aren't too concerned with "stuff", either they have them on their main account, or otherwise don't care about cosmetics and just ranked play.
