Rumble's flamespitter should cast like a Lucian ult

Facing only matters for a few abilities in League, and most of those have to do with where your enemy is facing when you use an ability (think Trynd slow, Cass ult, Shaco backstab).

I got Rumble in an ARAM recently, and I didn't enjoy playing him. I love the concept of Rumble, but there's a problem. Flamespitter sucks to use. You know where you want to spit flames, but having to face that direction to do it feels really clunky with the way League's movement works. Trying to damage enemies while avoiding cc and death is really tilting. I don't mind challenging mechanics, but I do mind feeling like I'm fighting archaic control schemes. Rumble's Q straddles the line between those two options in the most infuriating way possible.

The solution is simple. Just change the cast so you can move in whatever direction you want while Flamespitter's direction stays constant. Just like a Lucian ult. I see no downside from a design standpoint, though I'm sure it will need a damage nerf with that change (and I'm fine with that tradeoff).

Okay, I made my argument, so let's get some Rumble mains in here to tell me why I'm wrong :P

Hell no That would mean he could hit you with it while running away

you are absolutely right imo

Would help make it a bit less "I'm going to hit you no matter how hard you try" as well.

This makes it feel a bit better for both sides - you can kite backwards as Rumble and still deal damage, and you can actually get somewhere he can't hit you with it and not take a shitton of damage.

That would be broken in trades.

It's fine like it is, using it correctly is part of his skill cap.

In my opinion, it should be temporarily interrupted while under CC, making it paused or fall off at half speed while blocked, without necessarily being completely cut short. That would open the chance for enemies to counter by applying or chaining CC, so that 1 second of stun/silence/knockup would turn the flamethrower off for the duration and restart it afterwards, reducing the remaining burn by either a second or half. Slows, snares and disarms wouldn't apply as they don't deny spellcasts unless movement related.

tbh it would just feel so wrong after it's been this way for so long . Honesty wouldn't touch rumble again if this change went through. His bread and butter skill would feel awful (I alrdy dislike the feel of luc r)

Personally have never had the 'problem ' you're trying to fix. You kinda just get used to it

The fact that lucian's ultimate only facts 1 direction is the main reason why I don't like him.

Rumble is fine let's not homogenize all the characters into 1 bland pile of meh.

That would be a good idea if you could toggle it. So if you double tap q (or during the q duration you can press it once to toggle direction) then it puts his q in the direction that your mouse is facing when you cast it, then pressing your q switches it back to the “face in the same direction of character” mode. That can help lower elo people with how his q works, it can be a good kiting tool, it can hopefully add some more skill expression into his kit and give people the option of just keeping it on the “facing the same way as rumble” way that they know and love.

that would be broken af

Rumble would be able to disengage and deal damage at the same time He already can , but this makes it even better now

and lowers his skillcap

I'd be really cool if he could, but it'd make Rumble really hard to deal with it, specially in lane, but flamespitter definitely feels awful to use.
