is PBE officially a ghost town now?

What's the point of putting things up for testing when no one even queues for games on the PBE anymore. We have a better chance of getting a new illaoi skin than getting into a pvp game on PBE. It doesn't even matter when or how long you queue anymore you'll never get into a game.

Riot open new sign ups again

I signed up years ago. They never came back to me so I figured PBE was packed with people.

Nah the only time there are actually people on the PBE is when new champs get put up for testing. Other than that there are no games happening, the queues are horrible.

SH Azykan6 votes

I would play there more if it wasnt for the really high instability in game, feels weird trying to play a newer champ and think something is wrong with them, and it is just the server lagging out for the Xth time.

rtbf2256182414 votes

Same. It propably means the applications are dumpstered/outdated/under the pile of newer ones that scale into tens of thousands and we can't apply a new one either.

PBE? What's that? You mean "YouTubers/Streamers play here to show off new shit" server?

Signed up a long time ago, now the Azir rework is live there and I still didn't get a chance to join. He's my second most mastery champion for christs sake.

SweedishGunner24 votes

With a name like that, who's your first?

Spank the Fox45 votes

Probably Xerath.

Filthy heretics

Lauchmelder18 votes

Don't insult me, I would never play this filthy traitor.

It's Thresh as I used to be a support main named MadKnife IV.

Votable Jester6 votes

Haha, I am the Xerath main here!

You can tell by my extremely relevant, non-randomly generated summoner name. [sg-ezreal]

xerath main? wow you actually exist !

This makes me feel even sadder cuz Azir is my number 1 mastery champ, but didn't get in.

Skins Project2 votes

I'd let you use my account but that's against rules.....

and the fact that you'd end up waiting 2 hours then go insane.

I went mad after a 7 hour Q :3

Watched alot of anime tho

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Wow. Queue times are that bad?

Honestly they should open up the PBE to more people.

Skins Project1 votes

I restarted every 45 mins, and an hour on the last one.....

Velzard of Koz2 votes

Yeah, I singed like two years ago? Still nothing. :D

Chembaron Yamada16 votes

To be fair, just playing Singed 2 years ago doesn't qualify you for a PBE account.

KoKoboto8 votes

Hmm never thought about that. Maybe they outta put some incentive to being a PBE player.

Upvoted for visibility.

AuraCreed12 votes

The incentive is actually getting on the PBE.

DarkRitual2 votes

It'd be a great chance to give players more icons they don't care about.

KoKoboto3 votes

Idk. Why WOULD I want to go to PBE really? I made an application and got in and stuff but I never actually bothered to do any of that stuff. Would rather play with better game quality and all that.

Placentas6 votes

Well idk about YOU, but I would personally not mind having access to try out whatever skin I want, especially new ones.

AuraCreed2 votes

I dunno about you but I would like to try out the changes they make to champions I play before they revoke or add them to the game (Playing new champs in advance would be awesome too).

rtbf2256182418 votes

Fifty thousand people used to test here...

Jet Sett7 votes

Do players contribute to balance decisions? No. Do players contribute to bug testing? Yes, but bugs still make it to live. Are there incentives or rewards for play testing here? Not if you aren't a YouTuber and/or Streamer who benefits from the attention of new skins, champs, or items.

You have no incentive to test on the PBE other than wanting to do it, and no one is giving you incentive to do it either. It's understandable that not every bug will be caught on the PBE, but even still there are plenty of people disheartened at the failure of PBE doing it's one job. If there was a "Bugs spotted" type of report given out to show how effective the players were in helping, or some minor rewards given out to players' normal accounts who participated and helped with feedback then we might see PBE numbers rise without there having to be a new champ on the way.

2Charmnot2Charm1 votes

Sometimes there could be something working totally fine on pbe but then it breaks when it goes to the live servers.

Jet Sett1 votes

While that is true, that doesn't really make the PBE more enticing. At least how I see it.

Slythion6 votes

at least I got to test Alpha...wish I could've gotten pbe access too as I thought I actually helped out

AuraCreed3 votes

You were in Leagues Alpha and didn't get it by default? That sounds kinda.. unfair imo.

Slythion1 votes

The league alpha client. I helped test the client we're currently on while it was in development, back when they switched from the Legacy Client.

Wasn't sure if you mistook me for saying I played the game before Season 1, which definitely isn't the case >_<

AuraCreed1 votes

I did, rip.

I got to test the Alpha Client too as the last batch before the "everyone who signed up gets it" batch. I never got the PBE either.

[sg-janna] Rito doesn't love us (I'm kidding - I know it's super limited. Hopefully they open up for sign ups again).

Slythion2 votes

Sign ups have been closed for like, 5 months. It's been a lot of feelzbadman :(

Agent Corgi4 votes

I signed up for PBE a long time ago. Been waiting on to see if they'd accept it & every time I looked, it said that the PBE signup page was "404: Page missing" with the picture of iBlitzcrank. It was much later they announced that PBE signups were being removed until 'whenever they get around to it'. I don't see them bringing it back until after Pre-season 8 since this season is supposed to change everything.

Sad Chihuahua4 votes

I, personally, only play PvP on the PBE for things like Pre-Season and Mid-Season updates, otherwise, I use the practice tool to try out new champs and reworks.

i love beta testing, because it allows me to find bugs and fix balance issues. yet i have never been invited to PBE after YEARS of trying to get in. while my sister has an account and have hasn't played the game since season 5.

but all that bring said. the bigger issue with pbe is not the lack of riot inviting people who would help. it the fact they don't LET us help. Riot has clearly stated they aren't doing any balance testing on pbe. i tried pbe on my sister account (she let me use it for pbe only as she no longer plays)

And i have reported bugs with my champion that is on LIVE servers multiple times for over 6 months and they haven't been fixed.

so unless the champions I play are getting changes, why is MY incentive to play pbe?

when i did freinds and family ( and later public) beta testing for resistance 2 i i posted bugs and reported balance things that MADE IT INTO THE FINAL GAME.

when i beta tested resistance 3 and we only had acess to TWO maps. we complains about the spawn points.. the ONLY two maps in the game that had GOOD spawn points on release... were the two we beta tested. because we had insomniac fix those.

i public beta tested starcraft 2. and we'll as private and public beta testing for diablo 3. and while in starcraft i dont feel i did much (im to bad at that game anyways) even in diablo 3 blizzard took some things in some posts i write and fixed them and made some balance changes

i mean the JOY of beta testing is being HELPFUL, it not enjoyable to PLAY a buggy game. its enjoyable to play a buggy game and then tell someone where the bugs are and then SEE that said buggy game turn into a NON-buggy game. you feel helpful, you feel like part of a team making something better, and you feel appreciated. they're aren't many situations in life that you can point in all the flaws in something and have people thank you for it. but beta testing does that.

but with Riot? Not only have i never (myself) been given access to the beta. riot clearly said they aren't doing balance testing on pbe. which honestly is BY FAR the biggest issue affect playing in the game in every new patch. They DON'T listen to the bugs i report.

in fact for my main Nidalee (and i have stated this several times)

for EVERY change done to her (without having access to a pbe account and without ever testing it personally or seeing it, aka just by looking at the description of the change) i have been able to predict EXACTLY, how each change done to nid would affect her.

and im not going to dig up my posts but i told riot TWO MONTHS before strength of the ages was removed it would cut nidalee winrate by EIGHT PERCENT!! if they removed it.

and how did i get such an accurate number? well at that time about 12% of nidalee were running thunderlords and those 12% had an EIGHT PERCENT lower winrate than every nid running strength of the ages. SO WHAT DO U THINK IS GOING HAPPEN WHEN THE LEAST HORRID OPTION IS NOW THE ONLY OPTION?

her winrate dropped by 8 percent.. WHO DA THUK??

at the same time.. the gutting of item 3116 the SAME PATCH dropped hr wrinrate ANOTHER 5% until for 3 patches she tied the record for the tenth lowest winrate in the HISTORY of league for her main role at 38%

in fact TO THIS DAY i have only been incorrect in my nid predictions on TWO occasions. ONCE that letting her jungle wouldnt break her... (yeah my bad... no one saw that coming...)

and 2nd i forget at the moment but if i remember i'll add it later

but yeah.. riot needs to do more listens and make sure people FEEL like thier opinions are getting heard. becuase there is no joy in tested if you is no appreciation felt for doing the testing... then its just playing a "buggy game" and id rather have the live servers

DrCyanide2 votes

I got into the PBE around Jhin's preview, but the community was so terrible with how they'd fight for the Champion I didn't want to go back after he hit live.

GigglesO2 votes

I had an account, but seeing how its only for bug testing. A lot of bugs that get found on the pbe don't get fixed, and balance team doesn't give a fuck about opinion I stopped playing it.

warpenguin5552 votes

I really only ever play customs on PBE. If I wanted a laggy game with unbalanced teams I would play normals. I've caught a few bugs too, so it's not like im completely wasting my slot by doing that

TheCharmingCharm2 votes

I mean I just queued up for one this morning and got into a game within 2 minutes (and this was at 6 am). But then again, when you do get games, there's always at least one suuuuper toxic person in the game that you end up having to mute.

but PBE is definitely small, because if you play PBE everyday like some people do, you'll start knowing a majority of the people that you get queued with. Like in that game i played, 2 people on the enemy team and 1 person on my team said they've all played with our velkoz (the toxic person on my team) around 4 times, some of them even had him added, but got deleted. They also said in all the games they've played with him, he's always toxic lol.

Elikain2 votes

PBE isn't for testing balance changes since PBE games are never treated the same as Normals on live servers or even Ranked games. People do all of the crazy shit there and even quit games because there's no penalty and it's "LOL PBE" account.

PBE is mainly used for bug squashing as new content needs to come out without any major bugs. Of course, some bugs get through because of the sample size of the players and only become apparent when everyone from Live hits the new content and tries it out for the first time.

Yea riot gave me a pbe account then when i saw it closed down i was sad af
