TF never uses other cards

#BEFORE YOU READ THIS THREAD: What I refer to is teamfights not farming.

TwistedFate favourite card is yellow.

I mean he does use other cards but it's only when farming, I feel as if there needs to be some change or something to what the other cards do or something so that he wouldn't constantly have to use the golden card all the time which is kinda eh.

Idk maybe i'm wrong who knows lol

I am a tf main and i feel like i use other cards as well (but this might just be because i know most of the hidden tricks of tf and when to use what)

gold card in teamfights: -peel for your adc -catch out their enemies to get a pick

blue card in teamfights: -when you know you can nuke them with it (blue card does the most damage) -when you only have enough mana for pick a card but not wild cards

red card in teamfights: -max rank red cards is so underestimated in terms of damage and slow

  • throw at a tank who might drag the aoe to their squishies (it will still be a nuke to them)

gold card imo is a strong fair cc with a 2 second stun but the mini game you have to play in terms of picking it but the other cards are just as important

Um actually I tend to see TF use all three of the cards pretty regularly through-out the game. Blue card is to refund mana often after trades to get ready for the next trade for example, red is his wave clear card and yellow is his pick-off card, although on occasion I've seen him go red card in clustered fights as the AoE effect can be pretty brutal in the right moments.

Its really like any other ability honestly with the only real difference is TF has to pick which function he wants where as if I am say Syndra my E is pretty much always going to be able to stun/wave clear or my W will always be able to slow/wave clear.

I was referring to what kinda cards he uses in team fights but fair enough.

Im the only one that thinks that point and click 2s stun on roughly 4s cooldown is pretty stupid to have in general? I mean it's 2017 already.

iLBGAMing1 votes

Well I mean that too, I guess.

They are kinda necessary though. They are what is keeping mobility demons in check LeeSin Kalista Ahri Vayne for example. In a world without targeted hard CC, they would reign.

It's delayed, telegraphed and at 525 range.

That's perfectly fine.

ummmm, blue card mana regain and red card AOE. ur wrong m8

iLBGAMing5 votes

Yes I know, you didn't understand what I meant. Do you ever see a TF chase something with a blue card or a red card, it will always be yellow card.

"Blue card" = Mana Refund not mana regen

Yaśuo Main1 votes

<edited by mod> But seriously, if he's chasing someone would you use a stun to get closer or try to get lucky and somehow kill them with blue card or red card. You just disproved yourself.

Also I said mana REGAIN not REGEN. Reply so I can keep proving you wrong. Also, the 2nd guy proved you wrong TOO. and then you ignore that.

iLBGAMing2 votes

it's nearly midnight here for me, give me a break lol, I simply misread it.

Yes I agree it's a wiser choice to use Yellow card to stun someone when chasing an enemy but it would be nice to see the other cards have some use when used against a champion.

I think he's just saying his other cards are so lack luster as far as power in big fights. Even though they are supposed to offer a variety of combat on hits and have you think about which card to pull. 90% of the time people pull Yellow card for the CC. I think buffing the other 2 cards a little bit would help him out by making him have to choose better what he is trying to accomplish, and punish him for choosing the wrong card.

The problem is that if you direct-buff Blue Card, he's going to have almost no need for mana regen, and a direct-buff to Red Card will noticeably increase his waveclear. Any buff would HAVE to be in the form of additional functionality.

I thought you were talking about teamfights, not chasing down a single opponent.

Almost everyone is going to use cc in that situation, regardless of champion, in order to better secure a kill.

"Almost everyone is going to use cc in that situation, regardless of champion, in order to better secure a kill."

I agree.

IcyPepper1 votes

I mean, in that context you make it sound like a bad thing you would use the yellow card.

A better example would be teamfights, your original purpose in this thread.

The cards need different AP ratios. Example: Blue:60% Red:40% Gold:30%

Snap-casting random cards is very important in teamfights. It generally means you messed something up to not have time to lock a gold, but it’s still pretty common to have a situation where you just need damage NOW.

Pokemonred2001 votes

I see TF players use Red card to waveclear (alongside his Wild Cards) all the time, and his Blue Card is used to sustain mana late game and actually does more damage than Red Card and Gold Card, and can be better if you're using it to finish someone/something off.

BlackFlux1 votes

Kinda have to agree. I mean, would you pick A:the two second point and click CC and guarantee to land your Q B:an AOE slow, which overall if your trying to get a kill you will use yellow,so overall it is only good for laning and saying "oh yeah red exists, guess I can use it" or C:some extra damage/mana. though given yellow lets you land everything and item 3100 exists, you would only use it in laning or you accidentally picked it. and I think you know what happens more....

I'm glad that someone understands what I was trying to say.

Violet Fields1 votes

Do you really want to go back to beta Twisted Fate where his yellow card used to be AOE and his blue card never went on cool-down?

iLBGAMing2 votes

I wasn't playing league back then but it sounds ridiculous, but no I am just suggesting that his other cards should have a some sort of better effect when used against champions. So that you wouldn't have to deal with yellow card 90% of the time, it would be great in terms of variety.

Asking why TF doesn't use other cards in teamfights is like asking why he doesn't use yellow cards as much during laning phase or while shoving.

It's silly, that's why. You don't use an inefficient spell to do the job, and when you're a low damage mage (I'm aware that he hits you lategame for 1k damage with a gold card, he's still relatively low damage) it's better to focus on your utility than raw damage. You'll see the occasional red cards because they're AoE and underrated teamfighting tools but you're largely kiting the enemy back and looking for an opportunity to catch a squishy.

Blue and Red cards are extremely useful, just not in 1v1 scenarios because blue card's measly 75 extra base damage at level 13 is outshone by a 2s stun that guarantees your Q hits and you can get off more autos to cycle stacked deck.

The problem is that gold card is just too strong and is the reason he's a viable pick atm.

If other cards were buffed vs champs in some form to provide utility I think it'd just make it overpowered.

That said, skilled TF's know when to use a red card to AoE nuke or slow. Red card is much better than gold when you can manage to use it, but most of the time you need that gold card ready and available for picks and peels.

well, different cards, different use cases obviously the manasustain and aoe are more usefull in lane while the stun is better in fights, but if your opponents stand tights, the aoe from red shouldn't be underestimated, same for it's slow, and once you find yourself low on mana, you really appriciate haveing that blue up your sleeve.

Not saying the 2 sec stun isn't more powerfull most of the time, but the other cards have some clear usecases aswell. Though changeing the damage a bit would help, right now the stun has by far the lowest base damage, but the issue is that most of the damage comes from ratios, so that hardly matters. If the ratios also would differ between the cards, we could really get a choice between high damage on blue, good aoe on red or low damage but stun on yellow.

However, i dislike the stuncard for a different reason: global TP and a point n click stun are a sick combination that hold the rest of his kit back as his numbers can't be allowed to really be good.(similar issue with current ryze)

I have to semi-agree with this

The fact is the yellow card is the strongest and safest go to option when starting out a fight. Especially considering its above average stun duration, if they're stunned they can't damage you back(safety), they're immobilised, and you'll end up forcing a mikael/QSS/cleanse if they have any. Its only realistic downside is the low base damage, but his ratios and item synergies make up for it. Also, since it's a great way to peel for your supports and carries.

Although, in some situations red card could be better. As in, clumped up enemies and instead of stunning one you can slow multiple enemies allowing you and your team to catch up whilst also doing high AOE damage.

Blue is best for mana sustain in fights or if you're sure you can nuke/force resources out of a target when going for Blue+wild cards which would evaporate their healthbars.

People have terrible reading comprehension. Op states he barely sees people use his other cards outside of farming. Then the first comment is... i see tf use red card with wild cards all time or tf uses his blue card when low on mana(thats farming if you guys didnt know). At least people know how to reword exactly what op says in his thread.

In a teamfight its pretty bad to use blue or red in most cases. A 2sec point click stun on a low cd is just too good to pass up. U cant buff the other card without nerfing gold card because that would be broke af, but no tf player whats them to touch the gold. Touch stacked decked if u want to touch something

Here's something.

Yellow Card: Stuns for 1.6/1.7/1.8/1.9/2.0 seconds. Lowest base damage. Red Card: Slows for 2.2/2.4/2.6/2.8/3.0 seconds. Additionally slows attack speed by 30/35/40/45/50% on primary target. Medium base damage. Blue Card: Silences for 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds and restores 50/75/100/125/150 mana. Most base damage.

How to break a champion 101. He's already good, why would he need a silence and an atk speed slow?

EkyonKun1 votes

What do you mean? I blue card the enemy ADC all the time as TF :^ )

Lol

Perhaps something like this could change it.

Red card acts the same, BUt Maybe remove the slow(or at least half) And now your autos attacking the champions With the Debuff will stack Stacked Deck twice as fast. So each auto on them would count as 2 stacks (rather than 1) (And maybe if its not to overpowered. each Enemy champion Hit with the debuff reduces the CD of your Q 0.4 seconds for each target hit.)

Maybe for the blue, he could give a smaller vision radius of the marked target, revealing them. for maybe 2 seconds.
