It appears that i'm the only person that doesn't hate the new Varus lore (coming from a Varus Main)

It's not even that bad. I actually like the new lore more than the old one, because to be quite honest the old one didn't feel unique it just seemed like a small tragedy of a family loss due to a nation army invade in a small village of Ionia. This new lore improves on the tragedy part, and how Valmar thrown everything away to his beloved Kai because he couldn't stand the thought of living without him because he was his heartlight.

Well, you're comparing Varus's old lore to his new lore, which is more fleshed out and obviously it will be of higher quality.

A more accurate comparison would be this new lore compared to a lore that stays faithful to Varus's OG lore but is fleshed out to the level of this one.

And wouldn't that be the problem here? People took a very simple, not very fleshed out story to heart, and hyped it up way too much. It's like Viktor all over again. People don't like the new lore, because it doesn't adhere to their own head-canon.

Just because a story wasn't fleshed out doesn't mean people didn't want it to be fleshed out. When a group wants a story to be more in depth but gets a new story loosely based off the old one their frustration has to be understandable.

Not just Viktor's lore that people were initially over reacting to, there was the Vastaya update as well. Apparently it was going to "ruin the uniqueness" of certain anthropomorphic champs or some such bullshit. Obviously in the end it had no repercussions on those champs, people were just be pathetic is all.

How is having a wife and child dead and succumbing to the corrupton due to that a headcannon in this case? Headcannon is becoming a buzzword thrown to defend every change of cannon at this point.

Honestly, it's phenomenal. It helps worldbuild, it introduces engrossing characters and concepts, and I'm way more invested in the story of Kai, Valmar, and Varus than I was in the original, which to be perfectly honest didn't really feel like it had anywhere much left to go and was, if we're being completely honest here, a fairly generic revenge plot (noxians killed my family, prepare to die). The trio in the new lore introduce an interesting dynamic and inner conflicts, and I'm pumped to see where it'll go next.

Honestly, I really like it too. It introduces a couple of super interesting idea into league and the core concept of Varus is still very much the same. Really the dead family so I give myself to dark powers is probably the most standard story you can think of. So many stories are based around this singular plot line and Riot likes to take these standards and twist them.

Now we have two lovers trapped inside a body that isn't really their own with a driver that wants to kill everyone. Fuck, old Varus could just be summed up in 1 work, vengeance. That was his whole personality. From what I understand, there was nothing left besides that. So the character's whole personality needs to exist on his backstory. What happened to his family and his turning point are all we can get. Current Varus isn't anything more than that.

New Varus is much more dynamic. He has character and has areas to grow. One Varus could never change while the other is going to change.

Ill admit its not tht great, but its leaps better than the old one. The old one was a super-cliche "my family died i wanna avenge them" story. Seriously at this point i feel like people who claim they were sooooo connected with the old lore are just trolls. The old one was literally one of the most cliche anti-hero stories ever to exist. Sure the new lore isnt really solid, but at least its somethings new

I like how before Varus became this hyped great user of item 3153 item 3124 no one knew of his existence. And now when there aren't many players that played him before season 7 are acting like they are these Varus mains and act all offended of the lore change when more than 50% of the lol community probably didn't knew what his old lore even was.

Varus was never a popular/favourite champion within the ADC role, but that wasn't the case for me. I been playing this guy ever since season 5.

The talk of good endings in a video game story makes me sad because it makes me remember the massive Post Mass Effect Depression I had for a long time due to how the game ended as well as the story.

I haven't played any Mass Effect games so I don't really understand what are you talking about.

League has a good thing, hundreds of main characters. There is no need for every story to end in the good way or have redeeming factors.

Old Varus family was dead, point, and nothing could be done to resurrect them nor to give Old Varus any kind of solace. All he had left to do was bringing down each and every1 who was responsible for it. With the New Varus lore Kai isn't dead, Val isn't dead and not even Val family is dead (like seriously, we were just talking about the Disney-fication of LoL) and in the comic ending they are all strong and mighty, ready to bring the "beast" in a place where he can meet demise and they be brought back to life (while they were first looking to die and bring the Darkin with them which was better as storytelling value goes). I just like that in the color text Varus strenghtens his grip on all of them.

They could have done as well while keeping the old lore intact and just upgrading it. It wouldn't have had any negative feedback.

They will, they confirmed that he will get new voiceover lines at some time just not soon because champion reworks are a priority right now as well as balancing the preseason.
