Matchmaking.

I'm currently Plat 5 on solo/duo and Gold 2 on flex. I queued with a friend, who's also Plat 5 on solo/duo and Silver 4 on flex.

With this in mind, I was just matchmade with the following team: -Volibear: The player was probably new to the game. He had no idea how to play the game, no idea what to do or where to be. 73 cs at 30 minutes, constantly running around the map pointlessly and just hard feeding. His type of movements in the game really showed that he is a new player and I also searched his op.gg and he hasn't played any ranked games at all.

-Lux: In the support role, we had a Lux, who managed to have lower damage dealt to the above Volibear! Just to put this into perspective, we lost this game, I was #1 in damage in the game with 35k, the enemy Xayah was second with 29k, Volibear had 8.5k and Lux had 6.7k.

Taking all the above into consideration, I'd like to ask this: How did I and my friend get matched with these players? The Lux is currently sitting at Silver 4 with 31 games, and a 32% winrate. The Volibear is clearly a new player.

Not flaming here, nor am I rank-shaming or anything, I'm just curious how something like this could happen.
