Why does Runaan apply the splash damage from Jinx, but not from Kayle?

Both are applied with auto attacks, both are AoE spell effects that apply spellvamp and rylai.

In Jinx' case Runaan tripples it like an on hit effect, but in Kayle's case it does not.

The only reason I see is that jinx is a newer champion and they "fixed" the behaviour for her and forgot to do it for Kayle as well.

So it seems like a bug to me.

Probably because if you buy Runaan on jinx you might as well get something for being bad

Wouldn't be a bug if the coded it to work for Jinx, but didn't go back to code it for Kayle.

Depends how you define it, it's the same mechanic. So if they decide the mechanic should be changed and don't do it on one champ, that's a bug.

No. A bug in programming is a problem that occurred during run time that was unintentional. If a champion wasnt able to do something before a change, and riot decides to change the way something performs, and it applies to a champion, but that champion we mentioned before still can't do it, it's because she was either unchanged due to balance issues or forgotten about. If kayles attack animation fucks up mid e, that was unintentional and is considered a bug. No other way around it.

Because Riot does what they want.

Balance.

Kayle would be broken with Hurricane spreading her splash. Jinx is kind of ~eh with Hurricane.

Kayle's AP-scaling magic damage is all an on-hit effect, so it would see 100% strength on Hurricane's side bolts. Jinx's damage is all AA based, so it will only see 50% strength on side bolts. Unless Jinx builds crit, which Hurricane can't spread, so even less damage.

It's nice to have items like Deathcap, Infinity Edge, or Athene's that have pretty solid synergy with a champion and offer a solid power spike. Hurricane on Kayle though? That's a recipie for game-breaking, or the type of awful balance where Kayle feels really weak without Hurricane, and Hurricane is only cost-effective on Kayle.

Kayle already is one of the few champions that consider Hurricane, spreading her passive was enough to put it in her core build earlier this season.

Runan does fully spread Kayle's on hit magic damage, just not her splash. The splash affect appears to be the same on both champs though.

Also Kayles splash is 60% AD 25% AP while Jinx's splash is 110%AD So while Runaan get's Jinx splash to a total of 220% AD it would get Kayle's to 120% AD 50 %AP.

That doesn't look unbalanced to me.

You can't compare Kayle's splash to Jinx's splash to say it isn't unbalanced. Jinx doesn't want the item because effective ADC builds have no room for an item that doesn't work with crit and helps on-hit effects. Kayle is an on-hit champions, and gets a lot out of Runaan's because of it. Kayle would get something from having the hurricane splash. Jinx can buy hurricane and still be losing out on potential dps because she didn't get a better item instead. Just comparing them says nothing about if it would be unbalanced for Kayle.

Kayle has a lot more damage tied up in the on-hit aspect than Jinx does, and itemizing for on-hit doesn't tank her dps. Because of that, hurricane and any changes to its functionality affect Kayle massively, while Jinx couldn't care less.

pretty sure it does apply the splash, i thought that's why pros were building it on her before riot nerfed the AP ratio on righteous fury.

No it does not, just tested it, the side targets are hit with two sources of magic damage (runaans on hit and the main splash damage), but the main target is only hit with one magic damage (on hit, but no splash from runaans targets)

Pros build it to tripple the on hit effects from the nashors they build as well as Kayles E on hit effect and her passive.
