Soooooooooo, been playing the new Ahri with her MS boost on her Q, and was matched against a Yasou. A bit of that and a bit of this, but then comes the level where he blocks Ahri's Q with his windwall. I still got the MS boost despite the orb no longer flying through the air.
Main question here, is Ahri's ball really associated with the flight of the sphere or is the sphere merely a cover up for the speed boost?

You can extend the duration of the speed boost by not catching the ball.
DaCush1 votesUmmm. Not catching the ball? Have I missed an Ahri update recently that makes it so that you have to catch the ball now? Just got back to League after around 2 months so not completely updated but that sounds like a huge change.
Sailor Mint1 votesThe movement speed lasts for x seconds or until the ball comes back to you. The faster you go, the longer the ball is in transit and the longer the speed buff.
