About that Lissandra passive change idea to give her a shield...

There was an idea thrown about a while ago (earlier this year or late last year?) mentioning a new passive idea for Lissandra , one that would give her a shield after certain spellcasts, due to her being relatively close range when it comes to being a mage. I'd just like to bring that up again.

I think a small shield passive on every spellcast (probably with a shortish cd between passive procs) would be really nice. The current passive she has now is nice too honestly, but for me at least, it goes largely unnoticed (unless I'm paying attention to it and my mana management).

There is another idea I had for it (its a simple one, and one that was likely already thrown out there many times before), why not instead just add it as an additional passive to her E (Glacial Path)? Basically, it would benefit her as her E is used both as her escape and her engage, and for both she could use some extra assurance that she won't die immediately, as she typically builds pretty squishy aside from Zhonya's. However, maybe it'd be best for the shield to only appear IF she actually activates her E again after throwing out her claw to reappear at its current location, so she'd have to actually commit to placement change to get the shield.

(The fantasy behind it would be as she rises from the icy path she created, she comes up with a coating of ice around her that shortly melts away.)

Regardless of where it goes (as her new passive or on her E), it should also scale with AP (probably an obvious observation), somewhere between 30% and 40% probably (though that might even be too little, especially when compared to monster shields like Lulu's with her whopping 60%, which can get enormous late game), with maybe a base shield of 200~240, idk.

What do you guys think? Is she fine the way she is? Or do you think she would benefit from a new passive that shields her after a spellcast, either after a CD on her passive (and from any ability cast) or one that's tied to a specific ability?

she needs something. current passive is lame lame LAME. At least the mana passive could have some mechanic for reducing its cooldown...i think time based passives are extremely boring.

her passive is not even like Xerath passive, which is better...she more of a burst champs but i think for her to be strong in mid lane again is as i express to friends about it is her range on her q is too low and her auto is terrible for mid laners caster..a little buff in range could make her viable to play again, maybe just buff her q range is all she need...

I play her a lot, as it stands, she is still a bit underpowered, you have to master her and outplay to do well. The reason for this comes down to simple tradeoffs, she is very slow (low MS combined with one mobility skill that has a long CD and is generally used offensively) means she has a really hard time leaving an engage if she uses E to go in, which she generally has to because she is too slow to run into the enemy team. The recent changes were a step in the right direction, but didn't fix this issues: slow, glassy, short ranged. That's a lot of weakness for one champion. Most mages that are slow have long range (Ziggs Lux ), most that have short range are at least more mobile (Ryze Kassadin ) she has both of those weaknesses and is very glassy on top, in other words, too many weaknesses, too easy to counter.

I think it's fine if she remains slow and short ranged, it's her flavor, but she needs to be tankier. Solution is pretty simple, lower the dmg and AP scaling on claw in half and add a shield component with decent numbers and scaling, basically like Viktor's q where you do damage and gain a shield. The main thing she needs is more protection for all ins which is what her kit feels like she should be doing, and this would do it.
