Why do some people give up in their matches?

I was playing a game as Rengar Jungle and our lanes started losing. I tried my best to get all of them back into the game, but didn't get too far with that. We were losing pretty hard until my team decided to try surrender at 20.

I voted "No" because I thought I was fed enough to 1shot their adc (and i was) and the surrender vote failed for 3/2.

However this is where things went bad:

Our TF said "bye" and started just going after people hitting them and our Irelia was dancing at our nexus.

Eventually when they did get to our nexus a few minutes later, Irelia sold all her items for 3 sightstones and TF sold everything for a Frozen Mallet and went AFK in base.

The thing is, we were holding base pretty well as 3. They took quite some minutes to finish our nexus off. Why do some people give up completely , even though we had a chance at winning? Because things don't go their way?

Did they troll just to avoid LeaverBuster? Or was it because they wanted the game to end faster?

Because Emotions are hard to deal with. When you get angry, or sad you really cant play to your full potential anymore and compound that with the inability to trust your allies in SoloQ and you are pretty much doomed to lose... why try after that point?

I must say I was pretty frustrated because of Irelia and TF trolling. Yet I still played the game. That's not a reason to troll and be a jerk to other people and wasting their time.

And this is where imo you're being the better person, but what can you do?

Its not easy to understand until you yourself reach that breaking point emotionally. Its not right, but it is understandable.

When people see that they are losing, they feel its a lost cause and waste of time, so they surrender to end it and move on. Yet, some games arnt necessarily over just because they are currently losing. If seen teams comeback from simple things like split pushing, getting a baron, or even catching up in levels. Sadly, most people just assume its a lost cause and would rather give up entirely than take the chance for a comeback.

This was a game where we could definetly comeback. I was 6/2 wen they tried to surrender (Died a lot of times beccause 3v5) and I could probably carry that match and we were defending well.

People belive if they are losing, then the team is losing. Its sad because you defeating the chance of any fed players have of making a comeback. And if you dont surrender people think YOU'RE the troll for continuing on. Its a weird mentality that some players have and a sad one.

(this may only apply to me and the rest of unranked queue)

Mainly just time constraints, and I am one of those people that vote to surrender.

The way I look at it, if it's mid-game and 2 or more lanes are losing, things look bleak but there's still hope. If the enemy team has reached the base and you're team has only gotten 1 or 2 towers. There's not much helping your team. If between 15-25 or 20-30 minutes in (basically 10 minutes have gone by) and you're team still hasn't destroyed a tower. The game is lost.

If may feel like you have a chance to make a comeback but the sad reality is, it's very difficult. Basically because you spend a long amount of time defending the onslaught of minion waves and champions. There ends up being no room to relieve pressure.

Of course, unless you have a Tryndamere on your team and he takes on for the team to dive turrets, all hope is gone.

I cant say much for that specific occasion, but the most common reason I want to surrender is the enemy team showing great teamwork and coordination while our team is all running around like chickens with our heads cut off ignoring pings and chat. That or when someone refuses to stop engaging a snowbally champ until they become so fed the game isn't even real anymore lol :)

well because it's not worth my time to go through all this stress just because my team sucks now with the item 3931 junglers spend more time in the jungle then actually helping top and mid or my bot lane so the second we get behind it's just not worth it anymore to spend time on a game where no one is helping where even if we tried the team would just drag me down so i give up and just stop playing the match down vote as much as you want but you understand the stress and rage from having a top laner that feeds and cant turtle a duo bot lane that feeds the other adc and a jungler that won't show his fucking face outside of jungle while being the midlaner that beats their openet only to be camped by the jungler every chance they get and then tell me you want to keep trying
