A lack of counter-play isn't a problem; it's kit-balance.
Think about it. Everytime someone says a champion has no counter-play, there's always some gripe about something that actually can be countered by either the right abilities, the right CC, or the right items. Thing is, most champions that people say have no counter-play actually don't have anything to stop them within their own kit.
Take Zed for example. Imo he needs a limiter to how much damage he does. He has a bit of a limit since his Q does less damage as it hits beyond the first, but that's not enough--it's really just a limit to collateral damage. Even if the Q's secondary damage only hits his target, they'll still pop just as easily. Some inherent damage mitigation in his kit would solve that, say by lessening or limiting what can apply from his Ultimate. My idea was to put more priority in landing his Qs and less on his basic attacks.
Things like that. Too many champions have a reliable kit that doesn't require skillful use of their abilities. That's probably the biggest detriment to this game, more than any tanks, assassins, power-creeping, what have you. Instead of it being skill vs skill, it's skill vs better champions. That's not the way it should be in a game that requires you to put so much time, effort and resources into it just to be able to play good champions.
and the perfect counter to my root is...
Black Shield. Which you can't get because I have it.
