How about the concept of "spell steal" ?

Like, a guy with an ult that allowed him to steal a spell from someone? Like, when he gets his ult, a small menu would appear like in Kindred 's passive and after you click on the enemy champion that you want to steal from the menu would switch to a menu with the spells of champion you chose to still from.It would have like only one use and then the ult goes on cooldown for about...180-150 seconds.

What do you think of a concept like this? Too OP? A noob trap?

This...won't ever happen. For a few pretty good reasons.

  1. Animation load. We can't just have every ability used have the same animation because of the ability reads that are tied to cast animations and result.

  2. Kit Balance. Champion kits are balanced around all tools THEY have, not the tools they can take from OTHERS. Either awesome, meh or overtly bad! Yaaay. TOO many possible cases of insanity, we have over 100 champions, that is 4 active abilities ish per every damn champion, TOO many things to try and balance.

  3. Inconsistency of the kit and the clarity related. If each fight you had versus this champion they had a different ult and how much it warped theirs their play pattern between each encounter with them.

At best we might get a champion that gets an ability, still within theme based on the target's archetype. For example, drawing from a pool of abilities directly tied the target's main character category type, like Mage/assassin/marksman/tank/bruiser/Juggernaut the problem with this is that it might lock the character types and obsolete the champion's abilities for more contemporary releases.

So like rubick from dota?

The funny thing about Rubick is that his usefulness in game depends on what spells he can steal. On his own, he doesn't seem that powerful or overbearing.

But if they added basically a Rubick clone, with the inability to steal passives etc, I can already hear the forum QQ posts because of how versatile he could be depending on the situation.

actually steal would probably be broken.

just steal an alistar ult. gg.

copying a buff would be another thing and might be an interesting ability.

I honestly think there would be too many clarity issues with that. And I highly doubt that'd be fun to play against.
