Galio Idea's for Upcomming Galio Change

(all numbers and stats are simply examples to give an idea how the abilities work)

All what I say are my opinions and I welcome your opinions and Ideas as well.

Right now Galio's identity is he is a anti mage/tank. But his character is a gargoyle and that does not really fit well with a gargoyle at all. So he really needs a completely new identity. Then give the anti mage to a completely new champion example a insect summoner who can drain mana from players or something along those lines. So instead of making him a anti mage we make him a gargoyle and we focus on interesting abilities around that.

Galio is a gargoyle and gargoyles are always known for their ability to turn to stone.

What if Galio's ultimate was simply he turned to stone and during this time he would

A: Become immobile and immune to damage also a % of damage taken is turned into health for galio. B: Gain a very large reduction in damage and gain very high life regeneration (like Yi's W but super powered)

Q: Petrifying grasp: (melee ranged target enemy attack) Grab the enemy champion snaring them for 0.5 seconds dealing damage and applying the petrification debuff. Petrification debuff stacks up to 10 times stacks last for 60 seconds maybe longer. Each stack gives a very small movement speed debuff that slowly adds up. On 10 stacks the target takes a significant amount more damage and gets stunned (turned to stone) for a period of time.

E: Rock Shield (Target Ally Champion or Self): Give a player a shield that protects from all damage lasting for a long time. If shield is damaged till it is gone it explodes dealing AoE damage to nearby enemies. Can only target one champion at a time and shield can stack if it is not broken. So example first cast of the shield you get 50 shield next time you get 50 more with a total of 100 shield. Can stack up to 10 times for a very big shield. The more stacks on the shield the more damage it does. But lets say your first shield takes damage and only has 10 shield left and the next shield is added on you only have 60 shield total (assuming each shield is 50 as an example number) so if each shield stack is damaged down to 10 by the 10th stack you might only have a 100 health shield. You would then have to let the shield explode and start stacking again.

W: Wings (Passive) Flap your wings and take to the air gaining increased movement speed (active) Fly higher up ignoring unit and wall collision for a brief period of time also doubling the movement speed bonus.

One of the best changes I've heard about Galio is changing him from a melee champion to a ranged champion. That would make his laning phase more tolerable and less punishing. The hard part about defining Galio and his kit is determining how diverse of a playstyle he can manage pulling off. Currently he's pretty one-dimensional. You're either in the enemy's face, dealing tons of AoE damage and changing the game, or you're underwhelming and failing to fulfill your role as a carry.

Here's my feedback:

Galio's identity is the definition of an AP Bruiser. Turning him into an auto-attack based champion coming from that ult description would take away from that identity. That's nothing similar to his current AoE taunt ult. Personally, I prefer his 'taunt as many champions as you can, then unleash hellish damage' ult as it is. I feel like it has the potential to be a complete game changer if done correctly.

Maybe Riot could do something to make his Q less of a mindless poking tool as well. His Q is strong as hell if you can land it right now. It just feels like his Q could use some more interaction due to how slow of a skill shot it is. This ability also sends mixed messages about his kit. Is he supposed to be an 'in your face/hard engage' champion or a 'stalling/poke' mage? Also, I would argue that his Q if unchanged should grant vision in bushes. Light is supposed to be coming from his eyes yet it can't grant vision at the moment.

No. Thanks. Let's not give Galio an ability that grants any ally a mini-Kayle ult that leads into AoE damage. I agree that if any part of his kit needs to be altered, it would be his E. Rather than shifting his W to his E, I would argue that his current 'movement speed buff' E should be changed into a dash of some sort. This would synergize better with his current kit. Then Riot could continue to make minor tweaks to an already strong kit.

Let's also not make him Aurelion Sol with a different character model. His W could use some alteration. Maybe an AP or health shield that scales off his total MR? I feel like his W, as boring as it is, is a core part of his kit. You can combo with your Q, E, or ult and increase your damage and sustainability.

The whole point is to make Galio more of an interesting champion to play, not to break him so he's banned every game (if you have any questions about what I mean please look at Malzahar as an example of a champion rework that was overdone).

Well from what I've seen galios identity is being completely remade. So the only things I stuck with was his shield that heals him and the fact he is a gargoyle. I see your points don't agree with all of them but thanks for the reply :)

I always felt galio should have been the MR version of malphite. I'm unsure whether they'll go in that direction or not...

Are gargoyles something that might make thematic sense to absorb magic well? Would some direct MR scaling make sense (rather than a MR->AP conversion thing, freeing up the passive for something more interesting)?

Problem is that gargoyles are not really the anti magic type of creatures... that doesn't fit a gargoyles identity at all... I honestly believe that role should go to a completely different champion.

Gargoyles main features They can turn to stone (usually extending their lives immensely and can heal wounds very rapidly in this state.) They are very strong and usually in combat they are melee punching people They can fly and have wings. Some stories say they can turn other people to stone. Some say their eyes have different powers.

Well, the stone part could be related, as in some mythos stone doesn't 'conduct' magic. Although I suppose Taliyah seems to indicate that's not how it works in the league world.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with him. I feel like current galio was trying to be that malphite-esque MR tank and AP bruiser and gargoyle fantasy all in one, and didn't really achieve any of them particularly well. It might be that they'll need to push one or more of those other roles to a different/new champ, but for me it was the MR tank aspect that was most resonant with me, not the gargoyle-ness.

Well here is where I get my idea from. Currently Galio has a shield that gives him life for when he takes damage from abilities. He also has a ult that turns him to stone taunting everyone and making him imobile. So to keep some of his current "identity" I thought it would be cool if they kept his gargoyle identity and he still went imobile and still healed himself on other peoples attacks. This takes two of his abilities and somewhat still keeps a lot of his identity. We just remove the taunt and we remove it as two seperate abilities putting it into one ability. Then we find new core abilities that fits his character as a gargoyle.
