Why playing carry is more tiring than playing support

I can play 20 games as a support without any decline in consistency aka tilt, but as a carry, can only play 5 before I get bummed out which is right about now. People don't know the pressure carries feel when they have a third of their teams kills and less than 1% of their teams deaths. I have to play well from start to finish, and have even lost games when I made decisions that cost my team the win, even when I was already fed.

Supports don't feel the mounting pressure when the game is closing to an end, the impact they have by then is small to non - existent. They can either cheer on the carry or blame them if they are feeding or doing badly.

Some people say supports never get thanks or approval, i say carries don't get enough.

No wonder nobody wants to play support. What is with all these support bashing threads lately?

None of you have actually played support correctly then if you think all that crap you wrote.

Supports definitely feel mounting pressure as the game closes/reaches late game.

Depending on who you picked, you are your team's engage, disengage, best peeler, bodyguard for a carry, tank needed for objectives, etc etc. One misplay in any of those aspects can cause a loss at late game. I don't think there's any position that doesn't feel pressure when one mistake can mean winning or losing.

We feel tons of pressure...

  • Pressure to maintain vision control

  • Pressure to keep our teammates and our carries alive

  • FRUSTRATION towards why other teammates or carries can't position more strategically or know when to strategically engage/disengage

  • Pressure to land that game changing ultimate or skill that will change a team fight in your favor

Supports help carries actually carry the game. We might not get the glory of the kills, but we work hard so that abusive carries like yourself can do the damage you are meant to do. Carries already get thanks AND approval. You can boast about your damage output/KDA if you really want to, but us supports have nothing but ourselves and we don't really need the ego stroke.

I think you tilt hard because your vision is warped. There is a tremendous amount of pressure on support players. Everyone breathes down our backs about vision, even though everyone gets a free ward, and still doesn't pick up a control ward here and there. There is pressure to "peel" for the whole team, since most people lack positioning skills, and when your carries are front line or get caught, somehow, it falls back on vision which then trickles into the support. There is also pressure on catching the right champ out of position to engage a fight, as well as using and timing abilities to ensure the play has been made.

I don't think you full understand the nature of the game and the roles, because if you did, you wouldn't make a stupid remark like that.

  1. I do not feel my impact is low to nonexistent in the late game, as a support main. In fact, I feel that in the late game, I am generally either the most high impact players on the team, or the second most.

  2. this is because as the support, I am in charge of picking the enemy team and / or outplaying the enemy team not individually bust as a team. Usually together with one other person on the team.

  3. I do not enjoy playing carry. This is because the requirement from carries to to be perfect. it is really hard to be useful, especially proactively so, when every smallest mistake you make costs so much. Supports can afford to get caught here and there - sometimes they can turn getting caught to their advantage too. but carries? you get caught, you die, your team loses.

  4. And this is why carries are rewarded for following the lead of higher agency players on the team. Which sucks because you have to spend the game either doing whatever mr jungler / support / mid / top tells you to, put your tail between your legs and play super safe until mr. support looks kindly at you again (back from his never ending roams) or risk it royally.

  5. be that as it may, I have seen more salty ADC players than any other type of salt. ADCs are salty when their team loses, but they are also salty when their team wins. I've seen ADCs rage quit when other people get kills in team fights and they end up holding a bag of assists. I've seen ADCs rage quite after getting killed in a team fight, where the team gets an ACE and consequently two towers and an inhibitor. I've seen ADCs rage quite because the mid lane roams, because the mid lane doesn't roam, because the support roams, because the support doesn't roam, etc.

  6. but mostly, the support getting kills seems to be the no1 tilt factor for friendly ADCs.... which is wierd, because you'd expect the other ADC, i.e. the guy getting smashed in lane, to be the one to rage quit.

Carry is not a role, it's a status.

Stressful? Yeah I can say it's got that problem, since riot has buffed it to the point it'll make or break a game, and everyone is going to try killing you first. However marksmen often are the easiest to play if they get remotely ahead.
