Has anyone else noticed this?
My mid lane had higher MMR than my jungle before positional LP was hidden, and now I'm gaining significantly less LP for wins as jungle than I am for wins as mid, which suggests that it's still using positional MMR.
What the fuck was the point of this?
Quepha4 votesYes, that’s exactly what Riot said they did. Positional matchmakinng still exists to make for fairer matches. Positional ranks are gone.
I don’t know if off roles affect your rank less or more than before.
usul12022 votesFar, far more. It's not splash, it's now using the same normalized mmr equation. Just different mmrs for different ranks so you don't climb cheaply by role swapping.

HOWEVER: They did Average out your MMR, and apply it to your entire account.
If you had 2 Bronze I ranks and 3 Silver II ranks, you will rank as a Silver II, but have the MMR closer to a BI.

Except that's not what's happening.
My wins when I play mid are worth 21 LP. My wins when I play jungle are worth 16 LP. If MMR were averaged and consolidated into a single value, my LP gains and losses should be roughly the same regardless of which role I'm playing.

Did you read the announcement? Matchmaking stayed, because it was successful in giving people more accurate matchups. The individual, visible ranks are gone

I'm one of the only people who is gaining 15 LP per game with a 52% overall, and 65-70% in 3 roles. In the last 40 games as 52%+ I have went from 9 LP to 15 LP a win. And it is no matter what role I play, or if I play Fill.
So no. It's not placing based on individual roles MMR, nor are you getting varying LP based on what role you are playing.
It's the same as Season 3-8.
