we need items/objectives that provide defense to turrets

seeing as rift herald basically forces you to concede one turret at a minimum and we have zz'rot so that even tanks can fuck up towers, and everyone but the support is capable of taking towers fairly quickly

when are we going to get items that make it easier to defend them? the only defensive champ interaction we have with them is Janna shielding them; it's a good opportunity for new designs being wasted

Riot hates turtling.

turtling should be as viable a game plan as any other; it's usually how you let late game champions scale up

there's no reason to create this many ridiculous tower-killing things with so many hard push champions already in the game and then NOT make items that let you respond to it or at least cushion the blow

Simply put, gamers (not all) tend to hate fighting heavy defensive strategies. I'm noticing it in the game For Honor (which obviously isn't league) where everyone seems to really hate how defensive playstyles prove to be more effective despite actual real life combat heavily emphasizes defensive tactics (from my understanding. You don't want to waste all your stamina trying to hit someone for example).

People hate dealing with things they can't go through quickly.

Defense works best when the opponents options are limited, or they need to accomplish something in a predictable fashion, i.e. armor works because it forces opponents to use harder sword swings do meaningful damage which are easier to see and block.

Offence works best when, no matter the defensive option taken, there is a path that goes around it i.e decent armor is heavy and bulky meaning a long range barrage of arrows will easily make mincemeat of them as they will be too slow to dodge.

A defensive objective would need to have counterplay potential whereas an offensive objective is the counterplay.

Bad example if you ask me. Turtling is one thing but the biggest issue in For Honor is safe moves which is what really defines the turtle meta. Warlord, Conq(RAH!!), and the one everybody hates, Warden. When you give these safe moves to a few characters it means they never have to take the risk to attack and just wittle you down with very little counter play.

In For Honor people hate being spammed with unblockables. Ive seen Wardens who literally NEVER use normal attacks, thankfully there were balance changes but for the first what 3 months it was horrible. Check out TrueTalented vs LegionCommander, absolute bullshit.

There are champions and items that allow for easier turtling. Luden's echo, Runaans, Stattik Shiv. There are also champions like Ziggs, Viktor, Sivir, Orianna, Syndra, etc.

There will likely never be a summoner spell or item again that makes turrets EASIER to defend, but there are options that pseudo-accomplish the same effect.

Thats the thing though, when earlygame champions cant end even if they are ahead because you just turtle and farm, there is no reason to pick them anymore.

And if there's no potential to defend and hold out for late game then there's no reason to pick late game champions because late game never happens.

Yes there is, you can play carefull as fuck and reach lategame, but you shoudlnt fuck up early and still win cause you can just defend and scale anyway.

Riot hates turtling.

every moba is about defense as much as offense. but thats not a thing in league we gotta make it a hack and slash pvp game

its pretty much a dungeon crawler with little moba elements at this point

item 3056 oh, whoops. that's the opposite.

Rift herald can be easily counter by just wave clearing the minion wave that he is using. It disables his ability to do the 1500 true damage charge, as well as lowers his damage he deals to it.

Exactly, supportive items like this should totally exist. But, as far as Riot is concerned, support items are to heal and shield you. Or just generally adding tankiness. There's so much more they could do in the utility role, and with how flimsy towers are, I think starting with a anti-siege item would be very cool.

Zz'Rot is the perfect defensive item. Slows down many waves, and can turn them, given enough distance.

I think they just need ddamage buffs in some sort

Players "hey can we buff towers? They've been weak and too easy to kill for a long time now" Riot adds tower destroying monster. Players "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU" SERIOUSLY WHY.

Yes.

Please.

100g consumable. Active: give a nearby turret some health back and a bit of temporary attack power, both based on how long the game has been going on. That turret gains a 1 and a half minute cooldown where it cannot be affected by the item until it is off of cooldown.

Just buff towers please Rito, make it so it takes like an extra 20-30s to take down or something.

is that a buff ohmwrecker thread? i think this should be a buff ohmwrecker thread.

not just objectives on the map imo.

there is room for a whole class of supporty champions in this game that could focus on the manipulation of turrets and structures in general.

riot already touched this in a pretty good way with azir. but also champions that would interact in other ways with turets. like the ability to take direct control over their target, planting (targetable) repair or shield kits, or the ability to buff turrets for a short time in certain ways, like the old fortify summoner.

a champion could have a passive that grants him and a turret a shared shield like the inner turrets used to have.

there could be a champion with a mechanic similar to gangplanks coins and champion specific items that only he can buy, who can buy single upgrades that he can apply to a turret of his chosing.

i feel like riot barely explored turret interaction as a champion mechanic. (at least not defensive interaction)
