Any reason to pick Akali?

Any reason to pick akali now? I mean, you have Zed with bettler wave clear, better spit push, better lane phase, better energy management, poke, and CC, and now better burst, since you have to AA your Q. You have kat. Better poke, no resource, more AOE damage, a way in and way out. And her W proc her Q. IN AOE. LB: Better mobility, better burst, mana gated. Diana: yeah.. better at everything too...

It get's funnier when you compare their Qs... Zed gets a Q that deals a straight line damage, is a skill shot. Akali get's half the damage in the primary damage (ok, since it's point and click), and after she AA the enemy.... surprise. Her base damage surpasses it only by 25. And yeah, zed can use his shadow to deal more damage with his Q and ult.

So could you balance her E out? Zed: 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 80% Bonus AD), AD damage and slow+overlapping slow - CD 4s (With a guy that builds CDR, since his energy doesn't matter) KAt: MAGIC DAMAGE: 40 / 75 / 110 / 145 / 180 (+ 25% AP) (+ 60% bonus AD) + MOVEMENT SPEED: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35% - CD 4s Akali : PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 (+30% AP) (+60% AD).

At least give it some CC, reduce the enery cost greatly , make it double the spell vamp passive, or turn it into magic damage so it can apply Mpen? Since it gives NOTHING. It has no interaction. No CC, no, nada, zero.

Yeah, Akali seems really lack luster since they nerfed her. She was very powerful before, but now shes only remotely scary if she and the rest of her team is far ahead. Going along with your zed and kat comparison, one of their abilities is not countered by a 100 gold item or one of two upgraded trinkets. I played 2 games with her today, One I went 11/7/9 and we lost. Yeah she has sustain, but she is still very weak to burst and cc. Sure I had the second highest kills in the game, but I felt about as useful as a pancake.

The other game I went 33/8/8. This was not because I was Akali, this was simply because there was a large difference in skill level between my team and the other. The game was a stomp. I dont play Talon, but the game would have most likely went the same way if I was playing him. Or Katarina. Or any assassin.

My last game AGAINST Akali had similar scenario. I was top Galio against Vlad, Xerath was struggling (not feeding) Akali mid. But akali started to snowball after level 6 (of course) and had like 20 or whatever kills, you can see in my match history probably. She could kill anyone on my team 1v1, or kill and escape in team fights, ExCEPT for me. I was pretty fed at this point, with as many kills/assists as the rest of my team, and I completely zoned out Akali. If not for my presence (not arrogance, just champ match up) Akali became almost useless. If she dived anyone, I dropped my ulti on her, even if it got cancelled, she lost half her hp and had to run. If she tries to hide with shroud, my AOE burst didn't miss and she still got hurt, and by late game, we all had upgraded yellow wards.

Akali was so fed and so ahead, but her team lost because she has almost no "team fight" presence. Akali is strongest when you team can fight 4 v 5, if Akali roams or split pushes, she can enter at the end of a team fight and easily penta. That said, Kata can do that too, and with less risk since her successful kills lets her escape and come back, Akali can only keep going. SO yeah, I'd only advise using Akali if Kata is banned or taken already, they serve very similar purposes, but Kata is much safer.

Zed doesn't clean up like Akali can, he is a different champ altogether.

On the other hand, Akali is very dangerous if you have champs that a good at protecting. As Galio with Akali on my team, the two of us can ace a whole team, because Galio can have big damage, but he struggles at finishing off weakened enemies who (if they are like adc or something) will poke him down or kill him while he's on CD. But Galio can survive for a while cause he's a tank, even if he can't win, Akali makes up for his weakness, but destroying anyone he weakens, while anyone who chases her gets blasted or boxed out by the gargole.

Same works with amumu, my friend was playing amumu and Akali had like 30 hp, just got two kills and was roaming jungle. my friend wanted to back because he was low too, but Akali wanted more kills and kept fighting, so amumu kept interrupting the enemies attempts to get Akali while she was vulnerable, but anyone that focussed amumu quickly died to Akali, and the two aced the whole enemy team.

But again, he's a main akali, he had 35 kills one game, but his team still lost, because Akali can only do so much

That is exactly what stops me from playing Akali more. In ranked this season i have won an entire 2 out of 10 games as Akali. One of those games I did poorly. One I did okay. The others I was doing pretty good if not great. Just I could not do enough. Statistically speaking I have a 3-1 kda with her which seems a little wrong seeing that I have a 20% winrate

Yeah, that's the nature of Akali right now, and sums up the mentality of a lot of assassin players, winning the lane doesn't win the game

I am not complaining about assassin players, but many of them (in silver at least) insta lock their Zed or Kata, and either get a lot of kills with almost as many deaths, a few kills with almost no deaths, or completely fail and blame jungler, either way they don't realise that the game was lost in champ select, cause they were focussed so much on individual performance, their actual team presence was almost non existent. Akali is almost always in that category, but people don't see how it translates to other scenarios. Many people lose their lanes but carry the game to victory because of their affect on late game team fights, and Akali just does not have that late game presence, even when fed, because you still need the enemy team to mess up to capitalise on

Yeah Akali either needs the other team to mess up, or her team to do significantly better. I normally play champions that are more team/teamfight based. Even the few games I played kat, I only played her because she fit really well into our comp. I have a friend who is higher ranked than me and he plays really aggressively. He either gets lots of kills and lots of deaths, or just lots of deaths. It is most obvious when he plays an assassin.

On the other had theres me who in comparison seems like a very safe player. he is more focused on getting himself ahead, while I focus more on getting my entire team ahead, or putting the other team behind. I dont like to fight unless I know I can win, and as such my deaths are lower than his making my KDA higher.

Maybe Im just not a good assassin player. lol

I leave the trinket/pinkward out of the discussion since you only see that in Plat+. Bronze/silve/gold rarelly buy that to counter akali.

Bemapon2 votes

As a low gold player I disagree with that statement.

Apollocliptic1 votes

As a previously Gold currently Silver I disagree even more :D

Actually I usually use Galio against Akali, by the time she drops her shroud, I ulti her or blast her with AOE that hits her anyway. But if she is ahead, upgraded trinket does the job

I main mid/jung and I dont see her played like at all after the nerf. The last times I was against her though I was jungle. I would pick Zac and laugh as she cant even stay in her shroud. No need for vision if she gets knocked out of it or you just aoe her to death.

lol Just another AP tank that messes her up, I think Cho has a similar edge (Tank meta ftw :D)

That are the gold players that tend to climb the ladder. I got an accs in low gold and low plat. (I 'm not including supports for the red trinket).

I used to play her all the time but with nerfs I just don't enjoy her as much as I used to. You can still dominate games but what's the point when your early game and laning phase is damn near unbearable? I still enjoy playing every now and again (she is my favorite champ), but when I really can't do anything but try to farm until level 11 I'd rather play support (I hate support).

I've faced several Akali this last week, in just solo games, and not a single one didn't go on a rampage or worse. Regardless of her much needed nerfs, she still snowballs super hard. You're using examples of champions that hard counter bursty AP champs.

Well I explained the whole problem with the skills in comparison. Why pick akali if you can have the same kit with way more advantage? ZED and kat can deal way more damage, with a way in and out, have more burst. Hell, katarina is better at cleaning up a fight since she will do AOE damage with no CD since her passive will reset W and E. Do you REALLY think that her E is fine? I'm talking about ranked. Where you can counter pick/get counter picked, get specific runes for a lane and summoners, not team builder/blind pick and where people are really trying to win.
