Do you feel 80% of your games now are snowball matches?
Title. Games like 17/5 (in plat) were rare before new keystones $ flow. Now a close game is pretty rare. You either stomp or be stomped. By 7~10 minutes you know how the game will end.

Down here in low Gold it's always been like that.
This game takes 5 people to win but only 1 person to lose. Victory is determined by which team gets the rager/quitter/afker a startling majority of the time. Actual close games are nearly impossible because assembling 10 people who want to win is bafflingly rare.
I only play arams, so 100% of my matches are snowball matches :D
ICY what you did there.
Chill dude
Sounds like you're giving him the cold shoulder
didnt know phreak had a smurf
I was going to say, how did OP know I've been playing primarily Poro King?!
Nope. I've had way more 50 minute games than I wanted this week.
I don't think that. I've played enough games to know that teamwork is ultimately what determines the game. By 7~10 minutes is just the start. If the entire other team is fed then yea I get that, but if only 1 or 2 are fed, then there are definite ways to stop a snow ball effect from happening. Just had a game where 3 of the other team was fed due to poor teamwork. But during the late game we started working together more and we won, getting 2 barons and 5 dragons.
No, I feel like 100% of my games are snowball matches and have been forever because of retarded matchmaking system.
None of my games, to memory have lasted less than 30 minutes since the preseason began shrug
It's sadly true. For the better or for worse. I'm in plat and right now it's really hard to comeback from a decent deficit. I'ts a combination of many factors to count in, keystone surely help. There are some comeback mechanics, mainly the baounties right now, wich is cool but i feel like not enough to let a defending team be more succesful.
Major part of this is that right now many "snowball champions" are played, and those are literally game killer if they get some feed.
That said yestarday a won a game 4v5, so it's not like it's totally impossible to comeback, but surely harder
its near impossible to make a comback now. its only doable if the enemy team makes a big mechanical mistake. not even sneaking a baron for free will do it.
The new masteries added a lot of power to the early game and as such promote early snowballing. You can snowball before the first item even gets completed now.
Yep, 0% fun. I love late game champions, but I can't get to experiencing their end phase anymore since the games are stomped so badly. I could understand for a lose, but when you're winning without even making an influence because the 100% crit chance 15 minute Yasuo is carrying you, then it just feels boring and undeserved. I could only appreciate my power on late game champions by "1v1-ing" 0/10s who lost their lane, and it isn't satisfying in the slightest.
I've actually had a lot of longer games lately, it's been weird. At the beginning of the preseason they were super short. Now I play even more careful, and my late game champs are reaching full power.
maybe like 90% for me
I definitely know who is going to win my game by the 10 min mark. By 20 it's just time to argue with my team for 5 minutes that there is no point in trying to come back when my bot lane is 0-9 and my midlaner is building the completely wrong items.
I think a lot of this has to do with the 'yolo preseaon' mentality in ranked right now. So who knows what's going to happen later.
Yeah I feel like 7/10 games are decided in the first 10 minutes. If they're going to make the game work like that, they should move the surrender time up so I don't have to waste my time, or the enemy team doesn't have to waste theirs. But then the team that's winning feels sad they didn't get to play out their game, so they didn't have fun. Basically I don't like the intentional snowbally-ness of the game nowadays.
yep.
so far, on this preseason I've experienced just 2 games that were different. On both sides, the wiier team who started awfully and the loosing team that started very good, the first one, we won because our enemies where plain stupid. The secon one we lost because sudenly mid and jungle got afk.
If I look at the score 7-10 minutes in and its something like 6-1 I know its over 90% of the time and you tend to just give up mentally and want to get o to the next game.
@OP.
Yup.
I have more 5th dragons than before preseason
Pretty much but not as bad as at the start of the season.
Stopm only begins if someone feeds or dcs.
About 80% of my matches are me beating the snot out of the enemy laner and then going on a murderous rampage. That's snowballing right?
I like 30 minute games personal
There's no such thing as a close game. The instant someone takes a tower the lower level team is fucked forever.
I have experienced none of this all week, congrats making a problem where there is none.
My average game-time over the past 20 games was ~31.5 minutes. A pretty good length honestly.
no, i don't.
I think that the improvements on the system is also exposing those whom do not need to be where they are. But< Yes I have seen quite a few stomps... most because of things like: "X player fed/afk'd/ isn't skilled enough"
I don't know, certainly not salty enough to say I feel like it.
Let me see a few games:
Game #1 - It wasn't a stomp, that's for sure.We lost the lead we had & lost the game.
Game #2 - Gold wise,it was a complete stomp. But the enemy put up a good fight.
Game #3 - Yup,a complete stomp.Their Jungler was everywhere & I was stuck playing
against a
........yay.
Game #4 - Another stomp, mostly due to our team's Grill powah.
Game #5 - Now this wasn't a stomp.Even though the enemy got a lead early, our team managed to turn the tables & take over the game.
Game #6 - Eh not a stomp. But when my team started gaining a lead, the enemy surrendered.
Game #7 - A stomp by every definition of the word.
Game #8 - Not a stomp. Our team managed to to start gaining a lead around 20 minutes & ran with it.
Game #9 - Not a complete stomp,more like a slow defeat.
Game #10 - Yup stomp.Nothing more to say about that.
So only 4 out of these 10 games were stomps, that's just 40%.

40% is still HORRIBLE
Now It would be interesting to see what champs were played for each game.
Some only become good mid to late game. Some early game. Some are if they get a lead early they snowball and cant be stopped cough yasuo cough
If we could look at stomp games and who were played and by who we could identify what champs are really broken (because there are completely broken champs in the league)
no
Disclaimer, I am in Bronze 2, so what I experience is a lot different than what you do.
At the star of preseason, ya, it was at LEAST 80% of games were snowball fests and you knew who would win by 10 minutes in.In the past week or so though have noticed a VAST decrease in these super snowball matches. They still happen, but it is down to around 50% of the time now. I actually played a game yesterday where my team was down our support from the start of game, and the game lasted nearly 50 minutes with both teams having at least 2 open/taken inhibs. But I have also noticed that although the amount of times this happens has decreased, the severity of them when they do happen has increased drastically.
At the end of season 5 and begging of season 6 I felt that (in gold) one team would always snowball incredibly hard and the other team was left in the dust, but lately I've been getting longer and more come-backy games.
80% of my games have always been snowball matches, now they just end mercifully quickly instead of dragging on for ages.
No, I'd say more like 20%. Games this patch have felt a lot more even
I thought 5.23 was a snowball mess. 5.24 feels much better.
I'd say maybe 30% of games are stomps now. It's better than 5.22 for sure.
I'd say most of my games are averaging around 30-35 minutes, with some surrenders at 20 and some lasting well over 45 min. Sometimes I feel like people surrender too easily though, and could easily make a comeback with teamwork.
the problem with the latest patch is...games are still mostly deceided early on (~20min) but really drag out forever now if the winning team isn´t good enough to close out. Once you fall behind it´s almost impossible to make a comeback, as there´s no way to regain sufficient vision + having the sidelanes push out so you actually could fight over objectives behind the river. So games last 40-50min, but they aren´t really enjoyable for more than 10-20min, then it´s just futile effort on one side.
Nope. And I'm not jumping into that bandwagon. Games are fine like they are used to be. I haven't felt anything drastic yet. My games usually last 25 - 40 minutes.
I guess that Riot's intention actually was to make the game more easy to win for the stronger team again. That's what they said in the patchnotes. And it worked. The problem is just that there always IS a stronger team and this team will now inevitably win within 20 minutes, simply because the other team has a weak player in it or even simply because their comp is stronger in the current meta.
Most of the games are looking for me like crushing lanes in the first 7 minutes and pushing down mid until ~20 minutes when either the nexus is killed or the enemy surrenders.
As soon as one team gets ahead they can crush you and towerdive you over and over again because towers are super weak while their minions are auto-pushing because of the level advantage.
While the game maybe is balanced for premade teams now, it is not balanced for solo queue. And i'm looking forward to get bullied by my 4 man premade in soloQ while playing against another super-serious 5-man premade
No. My average time of the last 8 ranked matches is 32.375 minutes. This is only slightly (~1 minute) than last seasons times.
Riot has even confirmed that since initial preseason patch went out, the times have dropped by only a minute.
No i don't. not even 10% are
If two or sometimes even one lane get a 1 or 2 kill lead in lane the game will be over by 10 minutes most the time, as they will get tower in 8 minutes, group, get another tower and an ace, and then push to inhib in 15 minutes. This is not League of Legends. There are no more 40 minute ranked games, only 10 minute stomp sessions with everyone raging on team and no one having any fun on the other because they're so fed it's like playing bots.
