I actually wouldn't be opposed to a hard reset of everyones MMR/Rank next season

When is the last time league had a full reset on everyones MMR/Ranks?

Think about how healthy this would be for the game if this happened every 3 or 4 seasons.

  1. Weed out the boosted people

  2. Yes, it would be a cluster f*** at the start with high MMR people playing with low MMR people, but that would be sorted out in a few weeks/month and a half.

  3. People that claim they are in elo hell will rejoice because they can start over again

  4. People who think they deserve a rank higher than what they have been previously getting can now give no excuse because well, everyone started from the bottom.

  5. Would give a chance for Riot to work out better algorithms for matchmaking to have better game quality than what we see now.

Can't really think of any other things off the top of my head, but would anyone be opposed to this?

I'm cool with that idea.

Flex arguably already is what it looks like after a hard reset. Flex starting mmrs are loosely based on our old dynamic queue rank, but it's still a pretty big mess of diamond+ solo queue players with silver/gold mmrs in flex.

I'd much rather let flex mmr's eventually sort themselves out (and even consider them skipping the soft reset) rather than doing an actual hard reset. Eventually flex could become a roughly sorted queue with people having flex mmrs in the same ball park as their solo mmrs, but it's gonna take time and people playing it.

Have people of same rank (or +-1) play only each other (until higher tiers where there are fewer players). Get rid of rank promos, increase LP to 150. Add rollover LP. Derank only at 0 LP with indicator for #losses till derank. Standard gain more LP than lose LP at all points. On streaks add exponential multiplier for gains.

Promo to next division - Best of 5 Series. You + 4 B5 vs 5 B5. You + 4 B4 vs 5 B4. You + 4 B3 vs 5 B3. Sounds interesting to me. You get a few easier games, so you shouldn't complain too much if "teams are stacked." If you lose the easy games, you still have a chance to promote, but you have to prove yourself vs similar ranked players (gets harder if you lose vs the easier ones). At the same time, I can understand any argument to actually be like you + S5 team vs S5 team to prove you are that level.
