How many games do you have to win to gain MMR?

Virgin Ray··1 votes·2,398 views

My MMR gives me +18 when I win and -18 when I lose, basically no gain. I am S5 with a 47% win ratio. Before I had a 52% win ratio with a massive win streak before but that didn't change my MMR. Should I abandon this account and start a smurf?

One game.

Mine goes from 23-25 on gains pretty quickly so I don't think it should take too many games. It usually just takes 2 wins or losses in a row to change it by 1 in my case.

Your MMR did change. Keep in mind that it's not just your MMR that is dictating how much LP you're getting. The matchmaker doesn't always find perfect matches; maybe you faced worse opponents so you got less LP from the match.

Don't abandon the account. Bad or average MMR is not a reason to stop trying to climb, because you can correct it if you're really good enough.

MMR changes every game. It just doesnt change much.

You need large gaps in MMR to gain LP very quickly.

Also if you are gaining and losing the same amount of LP with a win and a loss that means you are at your skill level and are where you belong.

47% win rate...you're probably at the elo you belong in. (#TruthHurts) In all seriousness, worry less about MMR and more about learning from your games and you will climb...eventually.

starting a smurf will not help. if you improve, your rank will go up. It goes up by essentially the same about if you have 30 games or 3000.

It's not like an average where the more you have the less any more will be able to affect it.

if you are gaining about the same for a win that you lose for loss that's normal. It means that your MMR is about where it should be for silver 5. In other words, you are a silver 5 ranking with a matching silver 5 MMR.

The problem is that in order to move up, you have to win more than you lose in silver 5. - and really why would it be any different?

if you are silver 5 and winning 50% , then you are at a silver 5 skill level and will stay at that rank until you win more than you lose.

Suppose you played on a friends account who was bronze 5; I fully suspect that you would immediately win enough games to start progressing from bronze 5.

Now if you had a gold 5 skill level, you would do the same in silver 5. You would win games like crazy.

In fact, in season 6 I was gold 5 and when i started playing on an old silver 5 smurf, i won about 75% of my games.

The same is not usually true when smurfing plat to gold (I am plat 5 now)

one game but its exponential. the more you win the more mmr you will get the next time you win. its pretty negligible without a high winrate. a normal gain is 20+ and -18. if your MMR is equal with your rank.
