Tired of seeing Tanks 1v1 Bruisers at level 1

And then go on to outlane, outscale and out-teamfight them throughout the game.

Seriously, the amount of times I've seen champions like Maokai, Malphite and Ornn win straight up 1v1 brawls against champions like Fiora, Renek and Irelia in top lane brush level 1 before Minions even spawn is disgusting.

This is kind of dumb.

If I'm ANY of the tanks you listed vs any of the other champs listed, there's a reason I can win that early 1v1.

I'm on Mao, and I hit you with a Q for a decent amount of base damage and now can proc aftershock. Your early damage is now pretty abysmal so you've got to run, but you're now slowed. Any damage you did to me, I can heal back up with my one passive, and now I get my aftershock proc on you and you get a pretty decent chunk of damage done for lvl 1. Even if it's a Fiora vital proc, my passive will give me a decent amount of sustain to deal with it.

I'm on Malph, and I engage from range with a Q + comet. Not a whole lot you can do about it, even if you close the distance to engage because I've got an armor passive. Now I can just chase you till my Q is off cooldown and hit you with another one.

Ornn? Start W, use it when they engage. Any damage they do is dealt to your shield, and you get two decent instances of %hp damage on top of your aftershock damage.

Why is this alright? Because that level one fight is at a point where no one has purchased anything meaningful in terms of offense or defense, and they rely entirely on their Doran's item + runes for combat stats. And if you play into a tank's decent level 1 win condition then yeah, you played it fuckin terribly.

Maybe DON'T go in for that losing engage, and go in once you maybe have a second ability? Like on Fiora, once you've got both your dash and your riposte. Or for Renekton, both your stun and your heal. Or Irelia, your dash and your stun/slow.

Identify your win conditions and play to them. Don't just rush in like an ape and them complain when it doesn't work.

i always laughed at bruisers mostly for the fact they go for black cleaver then for life steal items so i rush a thorn mail and some armor items and 4 items into their build no last whisper items and wonder why the tank isn't really getting hurt

People keep refusing to adapt, while their opponents always do, and then they complain they're being "cheesed" when in reality they're just being outplayed.

Everything you wrote is bad balance, trash, and goes against the original principles of Top Lane. I feel like this guy said it a lot better than I ever could; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FudkS5HXNq8

And I was actually talking about a flat out, brush check all-in. No Bruiser should ever lose one 1v1 to a tank at level one, like, ever. Then the attack patterns that you describe on top of that, is just the nail in the coffin. You can't beat them with short trades, can't beat them with long trades, and it gets worse as the game goes on.

You mean powerspikes that can and will be taken advantage of are bad balance? You mean having to adapt, and build your playstyle around who you're playing instead of just trying to brute force everything is trash?

That's silly.

Yeah, maybe Fiora will lose the level one engage, but she'll destroy every single one of them when played properly and she'll have no struggles doing it. Renekton actually has positive winrates against both Maokai and Ornn, where losing to Malphite makes a fair amount of sense. Irelia struggles a bit more. Also, when you're done cherry picking, you'll see people who wreck them do exist. Aatrox, for example, smashes all three of them. So does Darius. So does Yorick. Jax also just struggles against Malph.

Like learn that windows of power exist, and that there is such a thing as power advantages at certain levels. Losing at level 1 doesn't mean you've lost the game, and assuming it does is legitimately confusing.

You're also sort of cherry-picking good examples to support your case.

Tryndamere for example shits on the breakfast of all three of those tanks at level one except for maybe Malphite (who is one of Tryndamere's hardest counters). He's even stronger at level 2.

Olaf and Volibear have two of the strongest level 1s in the game, and will massacre any three of those tanks at this point 1v1.

Maokai would only win a level 1 fight against Fiora if he brush cheesed her with his E. Renekton sure, because Renekton's first two levels are some of the worst in the game and Renek in the brush has no fury active. Irelia? E start maybe, W start no, she'd slaughter Maokai barring sapling minefield (if you get cheesed like this you're playing badly btw).

Malphite and Ornn just have unusually strong level 1s for tanks, due to Malphite's attack speed slow and Ornn having damage, defense, and crowd control all on his W alone.
