I just tried something really fun with Rammus, and it seems viable!
So, I rolled out the Rammus top today, and I decided I wanted something other than just stacking armor item after armor item. I wanted to be able to carry, get my team tons of kills. Of course, you're asking: "Well, what the hell did you do?"
I will explain: movement speed. In the LCS we can see that a lot of teamfights depend on toplaners and their ability to use their TPs well. The thing is: with Rammus you can always have the homeguard movement speed, so you can roam constantly and still B and homeguard into lane in time. What did I build?
I started off with a ninja tabi, this was mostly because I was laning against a Fiora and I needed survivability. Ofc you could go for mercs, swiftness, etc. Then I got homeguards right away. No other items, just tabi with homeguards and an aether wisp. I turned the aether wisp into a Luden and this is where the fun started: every TP was suddenly a free kill, and every engage without TP was a free kill too. At one point I could just Q into lanes whilst they were pushing our turret, our botlane couldn't hold it off very well so I homeguarded in. I charged up my Q, ran into the Lucian and suddenly our botlane got two kills and weren't behind anymore. After that I got dead man's plate, righteous glory, rabadon, and was probably going to get FH or morello as final item.
Your overall power lies in roams, just walk into the midlane turret, taunt em, get a free kill. TP bot, taunt em, get a free kill, etc.
Build and campfire stories aside though, what do you think of MS Rammus? Do you see the potential? Do you want to try it?
