Dynamic Que Easy Fix to make Everyone Happy

First lets look at some things about Dynamic Que

Dynamic Que Description

Dynamic Que is the system Riot added that allows you to choose your role in que rather than in champion select. They also added the feature with it to allow more than 2 players to que for ranked together. Unlike common misconception it includes BOTH of the features NOT just one. To be specific when it was first released it didn't even have BOTH features it only had the ability to select your role. "Dynamic Groups" was the official name of the GROUP feature added in with Dynamic Que.

Dynamic Que Pros and Cons

Pros You get to select your Role and get the role you want more often. Less arguing about roles in champion select and trolling caused by it. More friends can now join you in ranked easier no longer have to have 4 other friends to play.

Cons Premades of 4+ cause unbalance against less organized non premades causing ranking up solo to be harder than ever before. Forced to pick between 2 lanes or 1 lane and most likely support or just most likely support (fill). So game feels stale quicker.

So we now see that Dynamic Que actually has more pros than cons so we should keep it around but it does have cons that could be solved with some simple tweeking.

Solution

Add rules of matchmaking 5 player premades end up vs 5 player premades. 4 player premades end up with 1 solo que player vs 4 player premades and 1 solo que player 3 player premades end up with 1 duo que premade vs 3 player premade and 1 duo que premade 2 player premades end up with 1 trio que premade vs 1 duo que premade and 1 trio que premade. Solo Que end up vs Solo Que or Solo Que and one 4 player premade vs 1 solo que and a 4 player premade. And more could be added.

So basically 5 player premades end up vs 5 player premades. Duo and Trio que end up put together. 4 player and solo get put together and solo alone gets put together.

Currently the system will try to do this for a short period of time but if it doesn't find a quick match with these rules it drops the rules and you end up on a team with anything and against a team of anything. So enforce the rules don't let the rules time out.

Now we run into another problem... Que Time will go up by a bit depending on what you que up as. So we could add in some more combinations to help that out but another simple solution is to simple give people an option.

The option is simple you can choose to be in fast que or in a well matched que. The well matched que would take longer but a lot of people would still choose to use it. The fast que would still get mixed in with the matched que if a matching pair was found from the two so not to make que times even worse.

TL:DR add the option for players to que up with fair teams based on skill level and how many players qued togeather on both teams.

Please comment your opinions, suggestions, support, ideas or anything pertaining to this topic.

Rules of This Post No insulting others opinions be open minded. This isn't a spot to complain about how dynamic que has you stuck in blah blah blah this is a place to find solutions. (will add more as needed)

edit- added an explanation of how this differs from the current system.

It basically already works this way. Matchmaking always tries to find similar premade constellations in both teams.

What he said.

Yes it TRIES but if it fails it will just match you with whatever. The point is that you give players the option to avoid the fail situation and just keep waiting in que for a better match :) Then they can't complain about it. Both parties of dynamic que lovers keep their dynamic que and solo que lovers get what they want.

Amazes me how other Dynamic Que bitch threads and keep dynamic que argument threads quickly catch on getting multiple pages of comments and hundreds of views =\ you give a suggestion without bitching and no one cares XD

Because you are suggesting something that already exists, which probably simply isn't the definition of an interesting topic for most people.

Queue times for duos dramatically increases to the point of unplayability. The balance of queue times for other groups vs. how good the match is will be generally worse overall compared to simply figuring out the proper MMR handicaps for uneven team sizes on both sides. The current system is much better than your proposal.

Dynamic queue is not the new champion select.

Speed wise yes this system is not as good. But this is the point of offering to opt out of it. However lets say you are trying to rank as solo it does then give you the OPTION to make sure you get a fair team vs team experience.

Incorrect go look up without dynamic que we don't have the new champ select they come hand in hand. That is even what Riot calls it.

Those have exactly NOTHING to do with Dynamic Queue.

Then you fail to misunderstand what dynamic que is =\

Dynamic Que was the system Riot released to allow you to Dynamically select your ROLE and with it they just added the ability to que with more players =\ You can even read all their announcements about it. Why is it so many people misunderstand this?

Troll.

I didn't notice until now but you made it too obvious.

Duos get screwed hard by this change, and that's a group that Riot's always supported whether it be DQ or solo/duo.

Could you elaborate? So I might understand what you mean by that.

Restricting teams with duos to be duo/trio rather than including any solos is going to greatly increase their queue time. Restricting the other groups to mirror matches also does this, but those groups (trios, quads) haven't previously been supported by Riot's ranked system, and I'd bet they're less common than duos too.

I'm 100% onboard with offering solo in addition to DQ, but I think that DQ is going to depend on solos to work. And, no, I don't think there's an outcome where Riot's OK with DQ dying, so I Riot lets SQ exist if DQ doesn't.

As my idea mentioned there would be OTHER combinations those were just example combinations. But if you go Duo you will end up vs a team with Duo. If you don't want to wait for that then you just don't. But this gives the option to the player to let them choose how they que then they can't complain.

Do you consider duo/trio vs duo/trio a higher quality match than duo/3 solo vs duo/3 solo?

I'm not sure the premade vs quality tradeoff is where you think it is.

MrEnder1 votes

No i do not consider that any difference the point is both teams have the same make up
