can AP champions get an actual item to deal with tanks or buff liandries?

item 3151 is crap, even on champions that abuse it its not that very good at actually dealing with tanks because of item 3194.

I don't think Liandry's is an anti-tank item. I think it's an anti squishy item.

Out of the 3 big MR+HP items that is bought the least, and doesn't win as often as the other two either. It isn't helpful against all AP, and if you're playing one it works against then the item is designed to be used against them as they already killed tanks quickly. Tanks aren't meant to die to some of them either, what's the point in playing a tank if any combo mage kills you as if you're playing an ADC? If they're killing you there's Banshees that provides MR, AP and CDR and tanks don't buy magic pen so their damage drops quite a bit.

there are two sides to that coin... whats the point of playing a mage if 3-4 tanks are in a game just running you over because your damage is negligable and is more than likely single target if you are a burst mage? dont say its to "blow up" the ADC either since most ADCs are actually going to have item 3026 and item 3139 and burst you down harder while hiding behind tanks.

tanks are not meant to soak up damage forever, they are there to provide CC and mitigate dmg away from the carries long enough for them to do their job. atleast thats how it should be. a mage should not act as supporting dmg/CC for an ADC...

Obviously it depends on the mage, but if the biggest problem is a tank/juggernaut shrugging off your damage (as in "I personally need to be able to burn through this health sponge more quickly, that is the best way I can contribute to these fights" not "I get locked down by Sejuani and killed) then you'll get the most mileage out of item 3158 item 3165 item 3151 item 3116 item 3348 item 3135 (not necessarily in that order).

Cdr is vital to burn through the large healthpools of tanks, and your skillshot ccs may not be doing tons of damage but they will be repeatedly hitting the fat, slow sponges and prevent them from turning on your or running. Flat pen boots are therefore not worth it, and Morello is essential even if the tank doesn't rely on healing (which many do). Liandries is actually super strong, and boosts your damage against squishies too, it's just not awesome without Rylai's and void staff (which make it much stronger). Void staff is self explanatory, Rylai's also helps you kite and chain-land skillshots which will burn through the tank if you can do it.

At the end of the day, tank-busting isn't supposed to be the job of a burst mage with long cooldowns, but if you're willing to itemized for it you can do quite a respectable job, while still maintaining power against squishies.

AP champs have all the penetration they can handle.

item 3135 is the item to deal with tanks. Every other Magic Pen item is mainly for dealing with squishies
