Why Does Leona Have Such High Base Damages?

A lot of her damage is donated towards her allies (remember she can't proc her passive). She needs high base damage to make up for the damage she can't get (by herself) from her abilities.

Not really, like Cloud said - her passive plays a huge role in this. If she has a good ADC that follows up with her combos. Then they can get three passive procs off from Leona. Which can add up, but that only happens if the ADC follows up fast enough or well enough. But if they don't proc the passive before she can do another spell then they will only get one proc, instead of two, or three. If i remember correctly in the past they've nerfed her base damages, and AP Ratios as well.

Her passive deals magic damage as follows. 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110 / 125 / 140 So if your adc can get these off they can add up.

Blitz's base ratios and AP ratios are a lot higher then Leona's though. Leona's damage output is dependent on her teammates, someone like blitzcrank isnt though.

Also, how would Leona chunk any squishies hp at level 1.

The squishiest person is probably Anivia level 1, and I still find no way Leona could do this without full AD Runes + Masteries, and doing the auto Q combo on her, which is entirely unfeasible.

It's not her passive, learn to read.

Her QWE damage is so high by its own that she can 1v1 ADCs early game. That's just retarded.

Its not retarded, and thats not true. The only time support's damage is worth something is early and in the laning phase. Would you prefer her damage to be useless the ENTIRE game instead of just end game? ADC's are supposed to be weak early game, but even then you shouldn't die to leona 1v1 if you know literally anything about kiting (even if you are twitch, the weakest pre 3 adc you shouldn't die to leona lol). Oh and don't stand there and let her E you....

it's not about dying to her, you have to see things in context, you can't trade against a Leona lane, that's how oppressive she is. You're bound to lose the trade from the start.

Her passive, her absurd base damages... how are you even supposed to win a trade? Not to mention she completely destroys immobile ADCs because they have no way to avoid her engage, gotta hand it to mobility creep though.

Dodge Leona's E? are you new? that thing is a heat seeking missile. It has one of the worst hit boxes in the game and it's impossible to avoid unless Leona herself misses it or you have a mobile ability.

Yea, maybe last season before her numbers got nerfed, this is not the case anymore. Any lane that has a mid game adc and a ranged support should be out poking a leona lane. If you dodge the E then you win the trade, if you get hit be something as slow and obv as that E then you deserve to lose, and even then with supports like blitz, thresh and braum you shouldn't lose that trade. With supports with heals it doesn't matter if you lose that trade lol. The only thing leona is there for is to engage and lock you down. If you can't dodge the engage then yea you might get fucked up, but that is by design.

Not new, 2 years in game and with plenty as Leona. I mained ADC last season and was seeded in gold after my 10 games. Leona was my main support until they nerfed her W last season.

Leona's E is very obv, she has to stop moving to cast it and even then it has a cast time. If she is in a bush it should be warded and you should be away from that bush. The hit box on Leona's E is exactly what i'd expect it to be, its not a lux laser, lux snare or morgana Q.

Leona's E acts like a mumu q in terms of hit box, its very predictable.

Also, maybe you shouldn't pick Varus into a Leona lane. Thats asking for it lol.
