People are begging for Yasuo nerfs, but they don't realize something

Before starting, I hate Yasuo with a passion, as much as all of you do. This champion should be reworked and should have never been created to begin with

With that said - People are saying that Yasuo should be nerfed, but they don't realize something. He is already being nerfed; the crit changes will be overall negative to him. Think that way:

  • Crit items are being made more expensive. This means Yasuo will take longer to powerspike.
  • Currently, Yasuo can get 100% crit chance with one and a half completed item: item 3046 (or item 3087) + item 1018. With the crit changes, this will be no longer possible, as not only item 1018 is being removed, but Yasuo will now only have two ways to get 100% crit chance. Either he needs to complete item 3031 or he needs to buy a second AS + crit item. The first solution will make him powerspike way later (as he should be doing). The second solution will make him do less damage overall (you need AD to make all this AS and crit worth more).
  • While item 3031 will allow him to do more true damage, this item lost the crit damage increase. Yasuo already deals less damage with his crits than other champions. This means he will do even less damage now. The fact that he gets to do more true damage will mean little when Yasuo can use Conqueror and already gets bonus armor penetration with his ult. Unless it is against an heavy armored enemy, of course.

I don't expect those changes to make Yasuo less frustrating to play against (especially during the early game where even with 0% crit chance, he is bullshit to face during the first few levels) but it will at least make Yasuo come online later, which is good. A champion like him should never be allowed to be strong at every point of game (that is one of the current problems with Yasuo, there isn't really a point where he is weak, he is strong early, becomes strong mid due to 100% crit chance, and becomes strong late due to shredding everyone).

To be honest I still think Yasuo should be reworked. He is just a poorly designed champion. It is not just because he is bullshit to play against, everything about him is wrong. He gets free stats, invalidates certain champions, his W can block even many ultimates, his mobility is terrible to deal with early. And to make matters worse, gameplay aside, he is extremely infamous. People have prejudice against Yasuo players. The only one having fun is the Yasuo player himself; enemies hate facing him, whereas allies hate having an Yasuo on their team, as there is a very high chance that Yasuo will do poorly. He has a very high skill cap, yet he is one of the most popular champions in the game. He absolutely needs direct changes to his kit. Which changes, I don't know. But at least those indirect changes shall bring him in line with other champions.

Honestly, the only thing I want is the stupid safety net for ulting under towers removed. Being place outside of tower range is just incredibly unnecessary, and unwarranted. It removes a significant amount of risk from a Yasuo making a dive.

And before someone says "its only a really short range, they have to just be within their tower" Its at least 475 units. Thats his Q range. I literally just tested this to be sure by standing at the edge of tower, putting a target dummy at max Q range and ulting it. For reference thats the same range as Urgot's dash, slightly longer than Renektons. It is far from the insignificant distance defenders claim it to be. Towers are 775 range. 61% of the towers range places yasuo in safety.

The worst part of it is Yasuo does not aggro tower during his ult animation! Damage is applied at the end, and he gains his passive shield. Unless he ults w/o minions he will be safe during his ult. This alone should be enough of a safety net for yasuo diving, he does need the additional safety of not being in range of the tower.

No it is necessary but people like you dont get that CC`S HIMSELF while ulting so he would be punished by hitting a Nado and get tower shots.

You can press R from beyond tower range - no tower aggro when your nado hits. Your ult will not deal damage until after he finishes CCing himself - no tower aggro unless you did this when there are no minions; in which case you deserve tower aggro just like every other champ in the game. Oh and your passive - which is auto refreshed - will at level 6 block almost all of the first tower shot, and will only get stronger throughout the game.

If you choose to ult under tower w/o minions you deserve the punishment of tower shots. Yas is intended as a high-risk high-reward champ. Ulting under tower should be a risk, and if you misjudged your damage and don't get the kill then it was your mistake.

...his passive doesn't affect tower shots.

Valid point, i completely forgot that this morning. I still stand by my viewpoint though.

Damaging an enemy while under their tower is supposed to be a punishment

Spicy Rice2 votes

Galio - tanky + why are you ulting under someones turret?

Karthus - Once again, why are you under a turret?

Janna - Getting old at this point

Kat - can cancel her ult

MF - WHY ARE YOU UNDER A TURRET

Malz - can cancel

Nunu - tanky

Panth - why under a turret man, like come on, this is getting old

Shen - tanky

Kench - pretty sure his ult gets canceled by taking any damage

TF - stop. ulting. under. turrets

Vel'koz - seriously, you'd think it'd be common sense not to pit a tentacled creature vs a turret.

Warwick - tanky + heals himself

Xerath - you must be the one xerath who isn't scripting if you have to ult under someones tower to kill them

What I'm hoping for is that they actually remove Yasuo's double crit passive so they can adjust his defenses and W+E to make him more of a fighter than an assassin. Still keep the ability of the Q to crit, but without guaranteeing he'll get the crits.

I fall more in the second camp because his kit is just obnoxious and breaks what i see as the unspoken soft rules of the game. Like you're supposed to have cooldowns(e), mobility is supposed to come at the price of durability and sustained dps(e), your abilities shouldn't have 5 things in one ability(q)(a certain champ designer doesn't agree with me here). That's without even mentioning WW the ridiculous range and position of his ulti.

That said Yasuo main problem used to be that lots of other fighters beat him hard 1 v 1. Thanks to Conc this isn't really true anymore and the changes to IE are actually gonna make him better for the same reason. Yeah the extra cost will push his already to powerful first and 2nd item spikes back but once he gets them he will be much stronger.

You clearly don't hate Yasuo nearly as much as I do.

Crits still deal bonus % damage though, don't they? At least from what I understand, the infinity edge +50% crit damage boost was the only damage boost that was lost....

The Ecdysiast2 votes

Yasuo's crits deal 90% total damage on auto attack, 75% total damage on Q crit. Meaning even with Infinity Edge, his Q's crits only do 188% damage as opposed to the 250% anyone else gets.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

hrmm, alright. Thanks for helping clarify!

I wouldn't mind if his tornado didn't apply on-hits past his normal Q range. (It used to work that way)

Spicy Rice1 votes

Afaik, it never worked that way. It applies onhits to the first target hit

Riot Blaustoise has said on reddit/yasuomains that if Yasuo gets bad from these crit changes he will get a buff or a new passive / passive rework. They mentioned that Yasuo will no longer get damage reduction on his crit. So he will crit at full damage with 100% crit then. Riot also mentioned they are maybe gonna move Yasuo away from crit and make him more of a bruiser like Riven for example, and increase his base ad (which scales)

2018 and people are still complaining about Yasuo?

I'm just going to say it, if you lose lane to a Yasuo, that's a YOU problem, you either chose a poor matchup, got outplayed, played against someone better than you or made mistakes that cost you.

Remember kids, you can't spell Yasuo without "Y" "O" "U" and that's who needs to learn to play better, you.

How will crit changes not BUFF yasuo, a champion who only needs 25% crit chance to reach 100% crit with IE assuming it keeps its doubling of crit mechanic? He rushes IE and shiv, 120% crit chance with 35% of crit damage as true damage.

Yasuo needs his W replaced with something else entirely. It doesnt belong in league of legends and completely negates many champions who rely on projectiles but have long CDs. Thats where people have problems with yasuo. Hes FRUSTRATING to play against, just like zed. Or... does boards not recognize the fact that frustration to play against is a valid reason for change anymore?

You forget of something

He needs to actually buy IE and PD (or shiv) to have 100% crit chance (with the changes). WIthout IE he is stuck with 60% crit chance unless he is purchasing a second crit chance item. WIth the changes, the only crit chance items will be attack speed items.

He is gaining true damage, but he is losing the bonus crit damage.
