Everything i hate about Ekko

  • I hate his "title" of "boy who shattered time". Most horrible name you could ever think of, in all honesty i think riot was completely lazy on that one.

  • I hate his stupid overloaded kit, and how riot didn't give two shits about the actual balance of their game. Hes essentially the "lee sin" of midlane now. His stupidly overloaded kit is supplemented by the fact that AP itemization is 2-3x order of magnitude better than AD itemization. This means that although an AD assassin may have a predictable, optimal build path, EKKo doesn't necessarily have one which makes him far more versatile.

  • His Lore doesn't make sense, especially when combined with his name. So, he can rewind time or something. But the ingame use of his ability doesn't make sense. In game, it seems like Ekko is a transdimensional being that can alter and warp the space around him to do damage, produce copies or clones of himself, and to reverse damage done to himself by switching with his clone (or something like that). In his lore video, Ekko is made out to be a person that can reverse time and replay events until he gets a favorable outcome.

  • From this aspect imo, a transdimensional being is far cooler than someone who can just simply reverse time.

im really dissapointed with this champ. He feels completely half-assed. Although the concept is good, and it seems like it had alot of thought put in, and the actual in-game effects are fantastic, the actual product as a whole seems like it is lacking unity. There seems to have been a HUGE disconnect between the lore team (if riot even still has one) and the gameplay/visuals team (or whatever it was called).

The design team fell in love with a concept they couldn't live up to, so they half-assed an OP champ out instead. YOU CAN NOT MAKE A CHAMPION WHO REVERSES TIME. That would either be horribly unbalanced or technically impossible, SO DON'T EVEN TRY. Ekko plays nothing like the video they sold us on him, AND I KNEW HE WOULDN'T. He can't. Reversing time in game would just cause complete and utter chaos, not to mention it would be absurdly hard to code in a multi-player setting. That's on top of the overloaded kit and the stupid ratios they gave to his abilities. God Riot is stupid.

His "clones" are alternate timelines of himself. I don't get how it's hard to understand that.

And I doubt the game engine or balance could actually handle a real Prince of Persia.

its not hard to understand that. It just doesn't make sense in practice. It just kind of reminds me more of Bioshock:infinite than it does prince of persia. for one thing, they didn't give him a sweet looking sword for his shurima skin like they should have.

The one he has ingame looks like a toothpick

While, as I said, I understand that Riot couldn't have made him play like the Prince of Persia, I will totally agree that they missed the opportunity to give him one of the many awesome swords he had.

They shouldn't have even tried to make a Prince of Persia type champion because IT ISN'T POSSIBLE. Stop trying to pull off bullshit concepts that can't be done in a multiplayer setting. The champion they released is nothing like the video or comic, and that's on top of having an overloaded kit with stupid AP ratios.

No, they couldn't have mimicked Prince of Persia, or even their own trailer for Ekko. But I still like the concept and design, and so do other people. Riot did reasonably well, considering the limitations.
