PSA: Do Not Lie In Your Chat-Logs

Guys, lying in Chat-Logs is a clear indicator of guilt.

It basically shows this:

  1. You realize that your behavior was unwarranted and you were clearly aware of the toxicity of your behavior.
  2. You decided to use the language anyway, despite knowing the effects it would cause and the risks to your own account.
  3. You were caught red-handed with full knowledge of your toxicity.
  4. In an effort to reverse your ban, you are trying to manipulate the chat-logs and sell them back to the people who gave you the original copies and who still have them (which is asinine)
  5. You are trying to sway support for your reversal by manipulating the situation, with full knowledge of your own toxicity.

With all things considered, such behavior shows an unwillingness to identify the problem: your toxicity. It also shows your unwillingness to reform because it reveals your sense of entitlement. This behavior removes any sympathy we may have for you, and also any sympathy a Rioter would have for you. And as Rioters are the ones who can change the status of your account, lying won't benefit you in any way...

So all things considered, DO NOT LIE IN YOUR CHAT-LOGS

The entirety of Player Behavior is devoted to helping you understand your behavior and how to improve. If you decide to ignore that purpose, you are not going to get anything productive from this forum when you decide to lie to the community and be deceitful.

So just remember, the chance of you getting any support from edited Chat-Logs is absolutely zero.

The main reason for posting chat logs is for members of the community to help you identify what was wrong about them, if you cannot see it yourself.

If you edit the logs, what is the value you are getting?

Thank you .. Thank you.

Tantram: the only problem I have with Riot's system is that too often the INSTIGATOR gets off scot-free (at least for awhile) while the VICTIM gets punished for being human. This isn't how real life works. If someone physically attacks you (with a non deadly weapon) and you have to fight physically to defend yourself, and the cops come right away, who gets in trouble? You? No.

The instigator--aggressor-- does. Not the victim.

Now if the victim pulled a gun to STOP a physical attack, depending on where you live, that can be allowed ("putting you under citizen's arrest for assault"), but SHOOTING someone (deadly force) to stop a fight where you are not in danger of being killed CAN put you at fault (not "Stand your Ground").

But in Riot's system, the one who is being physically assaulted would be the one punished if he even lifts one fist to defend himself. That's not how real life works. Your system is akin to the one being attacked to continue to LET The attacker pummel the hell out of you, possibly giving you a PERMANENT DISABILITY FOR LIFE, until the police come or you get injured so bad you may die then or later, and just bend over and cry until he stops, and then if you're lucky, then he gets arrested and you sue him. But what's the point of you suing him if you're already PERMANENTLY DISFIGURED AND DISABLED and emotionally scarred--possibly forever changed and mentally ill--for the rest of your life?

That's not how real life works.

Your system should punish BOTH the attacker and the "Victim" in that case, if someone starts harassing and another person retaliates in self defense. Both people should be punished--right away. While that still won't be enough to make many people happy, at least both players getting banned together wouldn't make the victim feel like he's helpless.

As of right now, you have to literally be a MISTER SPOCK or another pointy-eared Vulcan, with NO emotions and perfect temper, to play this game safely. And that just isn't right. It's not human nature. It's not how the real world works. It's how we WISH things would work, but it's simply not reality.

I believe, if I may project my own intuitions, that certain individuals edit logs because they feel a discrepancy between their own interpretation and the general public's interpretation of words or phrases. For example, if in one's real-world community of friends, they have a word or phrase (I'll use, "dingus" as an example), that they used with one another, void of any hatred or contempt, yet the general public sees the word as heinous, tasteless, or rude, one might be tempted to alter the word to better match it's meaning as intended by the defendant.

Clearly, this mentality is flawed as when in Rome, do like the Romans. When online, we must speak with diction not offensive to the general public. I think a good real-life example of this is the word, "Twat". In EU, it's level of profaneness is about on par with "Fuck" in NA, however in NA, the word, "Twat" is almost (not quite) as profane as a racial slur.
