Should I pick Viktor or Vel'koz or some1 else?

I main I'm looking for another midlaner to play when she's banned, or when I want to play some1 else; sort of a backup main for mid.

I love Ahri's outplay potential/rewardingness, and her mid to late game combination of damage, mobility and cc that makes her a monstrosity.

For my alternative I want some1 else who is different. Some1 very strong in lane, and an immobile powerhouse. I like a lot, and she fits that description, but I think there may be funner champs, and ones that feel more different to play compared to Ahri.

Suggestions?

viktor is a bit higher tier, but both are strong. Velkoz is very fun.

Depends on the ELO that you are at. For higher Elos someone like Viktor will do really well in more matchups, but for lower elos, Vel'koz brings one of the snowballiest lanes of any mage. Also, the skill ceiling for Vel'koz is higher than someone like Viktor, and personally I find 'Koz a lot more fun to play.

Also, Vel's lore, theme, and VO's are far superior to Viktor.

Who is stronger in lane?

I like the idea of Vel'koz skillshot spam, but I really like the immense power of Viktors lazer. I overall think I like Vel'koz more, but that lazer is by far my favorite ability among those two champs. Who do u think I'll like more? Thanks 4 ur help XP

I would say that Vel'koz is better in laning phase, but it really depends on how good you are at hitting skillshots, really. If you are good at landing skillshots and player movement prediction, then Vel'koz is the way to go. If you have trouble hitting skillshots, then Viktor will be a lot more fun because he really only has 1 skillshot. But if you like Lasers, then you can't beat GIANT TRUE DAMAGE LAZER!!!

Also, I pretty much onetricked Vel'koz to Diamond, so I'm heavily biased.

I use Ahri as my mid go to, and I'm really starting to like Lux as a secondary. She has a lot of damage early-late game. And if you get fed it's scary. Ori is really good too tho. I think Viktor and Velkoz are great. But a Vel who can proc his passive can really change a team fight.

I'd go velkoz. You can abuse his poke and melt tanks with true damage late game. Both champs are fun though and I don't think you can go wrong.

Velkoz hands down. He is one of the most oppressive mages I've ever played against. The damage he could output with just a item 1056 is simply ridiculous.

I've logged a lot of playtime into velkoz. He is really strong and riot just kept buffing him due to lack of play. But there is one problem with velkoz, and it is that he's team reliant. If you know your team isn't going to zone the enemy and keep them off of you, don't pick velkoz. The moment someone gets onto you during a teamfight you'll probably die or not be able to participate in the fight
