Give urgot a 100% AD scaling shield

mtAkFzLsUS··44 votes·3,836 views

Itll really help him out. There is no reason not to give him one.

Why is riven the only champion in the game who is allowed an AD scaling shield when shes already mobile to hell and back?

Riven's shield is a dash that helps her dodge abilities, if she tries to dodge and still gets hit, the shield soaks it up for her. Who the fuck designed this?

TheI3igDaddy3 votes

Xypherous did. And I think I heard from a forum thread a while back that he regret her kit design after seeing her wreck face. I could be wrong, though.

Ariel the Cruel2 votes

Something to keep in mind: When she was released, not having mixed damage was considered a major weakness. Now it's more or less the standard.

TheI3igDaddy1 votes

I can understand what you're trying to say, though i don't get how that fits into the conversation. Are you saying that because of that, Xypherous decided to make her entire kit scale with AD to compensate?

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

The AD scaling shield was to help compensate for her lack of mixed damage and base defense. Now days, having only 1 damage type is increasingly standard. Which degrades the value of her having an AD scaling shield.

I've been wondering this myself. It'd be a great QoL buff to Urgot before his rework (slated to take place sometime between 2017 and 2295).

qetzel14 votes

I like being a pedant. Sorry.

Technically not a QoL buff. Just a massive buff.

Silents4292 votes

I swear a thread somewhere, a Riot guy said Urgot is going to get his rework this season.

DrCyanide1 votes

They've been saying that for how long?

Plans change, and some champions are easier to forget about than to fix.

Silents4292 votes

They said that about Sion, Then he got reworked.

And I rather they did prioritize reworks based on champions that are actually getting played, Why put all the resources towards Urgot when Poppy is actually being played and is actually a problem.

It might be easier to "forget" but neglecting champions that get played just angers more people.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

LeeSin

Brenticus121 votes

Poppy is actually a lot more unhealthy to the game but not played often cause no #LC$BigPlay$

Silents4291 votes

LCS has nothing to do with her being played.

Brenticus121 votes

#LCSBigPlays is just another way of saying "Flashy plays".

Champs like Lee, Zed and the other LCS staple can make flashy plays that are mechanically intensive and consists of alot of counterplay.

Poppy just runs in, ults the support then beats on people.

Salzigorimando1 votes

Honestly this argument's getting tired. She is an* Anti Carry.* She is an assassin without cheesy flashes or stealths. An honest assassin if you can believe it. You know exactly what she going to do and how to deal with it. If she ults the support then its the supports job to peel her, which is usually true when any assassin dives in anyway. Her ult is very well telegraphed, what with the oversized golden auras, and while I agree the poppy ez 1v5s are dumb, that could easily be fixed if riot wanted to.

Riot just hates the melee yordle.

Brenticus121 votes

This was never an argument and I just called out things as it is.

She isn't played as often because she has no way to counterplay, has only one method of engagement and can't make flashy plays.

Champs like Trynd and Fiora arem't played in the LCs precisely because of this. They might be soloQ pub stompers but any decent team with coordination can stop them. Poppy just has the unfortunate circumstance of being even more boring than the other two.

Also, yeah supports can attempt to peel but there are alot of ways to avoid things like a morgana bind or nami bubble and their damage is normally negligible because they're supports and have the 2nd least gold income on average.

And Rumble is technically a melee Yordle and still sees alot of play atleast in SoloQ

Skia Asteri8 votes

Or a mana scaling.

ChrisB51 votes

Make it work like this active? http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Seraph%27s_Embrace Or more like Ryze's abilities which have flat mana cost and scale on max mana?

Giovarco7 votes

He need a rework, not a buff. Anyway, as an Urgot player, his shield should scale with %MaxMana. That shield is super useless late game outside the slow.

Rebonack4 votes

Oh dear God...

Urgot bot in Dominion is already a nightmare.

How about Riot just hurries up with his rework instead?

Dingding1234 votes

no one wants Urget to get to the point to where people complain about his homing Q's

other than that YES SHIELDS UPPPP

DJ Siamak3 votes

Urgot needs changes other than that since he doesn't build much AD.

Chaotic Reks4 votes

wtf, how are you playing urgot?

The reason he doesn't have a shield that scales like that is it would make him Viable. Before any Urgot lovers hate on me for saying this, keep in mind that I would love for him to be viable, but he still has the same cancerous play style that made Riot have to nerf him until reworked. It is the same with Poppy, and was the same with Sion until his relaunch. Making Urgot Viable in his current state is like saying, "Here is league, it gets diseases sometimes, but we nerf them away. Here is Urgot. We don't have a cure for him yet, but lets reintroduce this disease into the game at maximum strength, because he is sad and lonely without a rework. (5 weeks later) OH MY GOSH WHAT HAVE WE DONE! URGOT CANCER HAS DESTROYED THE RIFT!". It is sad but true, and Urgot would then be re-nerfed to utter weakness because they would remember the terror that is a strong Urgot.

Chaotic Reks1 votes

but they'll never cure Stage IV LeeSin cancer...

junglerboy161 votes

They still don't think he is a disease. They could cure him just like they cured Urgot, but they think he is "healthy".

Chaotic Reks1 votes

he's as "healthy" as e:bola...

xMadScientist2 votes

im urgot main

he doesnt need a buff he is fine

u guys are just noobs

although it is kind of annoying his shield scales of ap

but maybe they could just buff the ap ratio?

because what little ap he would get would go a little bit farther in helping him since its basically useless damage wise

ShadowParker1 votes

Hate to tell ya but he's not fine whatsoever. He needs the rework asap.

InbredFeeder4 votes

If urgot gets reworked, i might quit this game.

freeformline1 votes

I'm thinking along those lines myself. My first three mains, in order, were Sona, Urgot, and Soraka. I will be pretty upset when they rework my favorite anti-carry.

Dryditch1 votes

Urgot, like old Sion, just needs QOL buffs, not a champ identity destroying rework.

I fear for the day Riot turns its eyes to Malphite or Xin Zhao.

ShadowParker1 votes

I once thought that too. But urgot's e-q combo is just to toxic with zero counterplay. He needs the rework. The w buff would be nice tho, just to keep him on par for now.

Dryditch1 votes

I'm not saying don't change some skills. By all means, do that. Just don't shit on a champ's identity by removing their defining move.

I'd prefer to see Urgot ' s e do more damage than cause a lock on effect, but he is, in no way, in need of a full scale rework.

ShadowParker1 votes

And what would you say his defining move is?

When they rework a champion they keep the identity for the most part. If you look at sion, they still kept his signature shield/health stacking

Dryditch1 votes

Sion was my main, so trust me when I say his shield wasn't iconic at all. His signature was his ult. It conveyed the sense of real threat that an undead juggernaught should convey.

Urgot's defining move/identity is his odd positioning. Not necessarily his ult, but the space he has to occupy in the teamfight--almost front and center, if not the very front lines, while still being a ranged champion.

Durzaka2 votes

Riven is a melee bruiser/assassin.

Urgot is a ranged ADC/bruiser.

Riven also has the second lowest health regen in the entire game to counteract her shield. her shield IS her regen.

Could you imagine Urgot bot lane with a 100% ad scaling shield? The mother fucker builds damage to kill you, while also getting defense so you cant possible trade back. Lets not forget his shield lasts 7 seconds!

DeusVult1 votes

No thanks, that would be massively OP

He needs help, but this is in the wrong direction IMO and one that is wrong for the game. Riven's shield is already blasphemy enough, we don't need another AD scaling shield.

Anyway, Urgot shouldn't be building that much AD, as he has really low range and isn't mobile. 1-2 AD items, then full tank. I personally think that people waste him trying to ADC while being an anti-adc. That wastes the ult and the passive. He's much better as a top or support, the passive is nothing the scoff at and the ult is great 1v1 or in teamfights if you catch someone.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Uh, no it wouldnt. The shield would be inferior to Rivens in everyway, considering she has mobility, more damage, AND the shield.

This would just make it where Urgot can actually be an adc, instead of the the strange tank/fighter you have to play him as to be useful.

Having an immobile, short ranged, caster adc with a reliable shield... wait for it... actually makes sense.

DarkenedSoul4201 votes

Orr give his q on-hit effects

SOSP ZebHall1 votes

Yeah urgot is getting a rework soon so it doesn't matter whatsoever if they do this

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Yes it does. It makes him playable until then.

Having a champion whom people like to play be garbage just because they cant find to time to rework him is not okay.

Even Poppy is playable

SOSP ZebHall1 votes

He is playable he just isn't in the meta. With that said, He doesn't fit in to any team comps. He's like the taric of ADC's He works well but when it come's to fights there are just better Adc's for the job He is great if you're going for a kill lane similer to the o'l Yasin combo in bot lane. With that said the kill lane doesn't always work. Because of supports like (morgana, janna, alistar) it just makes it impossible to pull off a kill lane nowadays until those specific supports fall off, you wont be seeing any kill lanes. BTW if you play poopy you can go give first blood to a dang teemo every single game till you die of old age!

Salzigorimando1 votes

I've been thinking about him for a while now and something occurred to me. Why don't they just turn him over to jinx?

seriously, say that she got a hold of him somehow and tinkered with him.

Q could become an aa toggle similar to her's, where normal is his basic aa and active aa is slower, costs mana per shot and cant crit but has a longer range, more damage with each level, and can maintain aa lock on corroded targets that duck out of vision but are still in range.

E could then have a smaller hit box since he becomes less reliant on it, maybe increasing the missile speed slightly to allow more counterplay and skill level deviation. Essentially it would become easier to dodge but also easier to lead a target with.

Shield would probably have to go, but it could be replaced with some kind of aoe debuff of some kind ( maybe a slow? Some kind of shred? Or a victor-style charge up into a 1 second fear thing?) To allow for an actual ult combo in his kit.

You could even leave his scalings on the same stats to allow multiple build paths. Ap tanky support, initiating briuser top, or squishy all in adc.

Xengre1 votes

Never do this. BT -> BT Shield stack -> depleted but covered for by Urgot's own shield while he builds another-> BT Shield Stack due to not taking health damage. This is further intensified by Urgot's tendency to get resistances making the triple shield a serious problem. Grab barrier and add it in for a 5 shield stack rotation before you can touch his HP unless he is slammed by massive burst.

Xela Syab1 votes

I think Urgot needs these 3 things. 1: on hit proc on Q. Makes sense He builds alot of on hit items and would help help his carry itemization vs bruiser itemization with bork and shiv 2: W is a wonky skill it needs either ad scaling or better cc like fear on 3 hits or missles (terror capacitor?) 3. R Urgot is the only champ with a suppress that deals NO DAMAGE! This skill should either suppress the target and channel damage, just suppress the victim and snare urgot so he can hit them, steal stats like Trundle's ult like 40-60% of their armor, resistance, and movement speed, or rework the skill to just displace the target since the current skill gets him killed in teamfights.

Other things he could use is a slightly smaller model since he's bigger than cho.

My issue with urgot is his bad combo of being a bruiser mixed with marksman since he doesnt do either role well, he can't soak up damage, he can't peel or cc the enemy, he can't really deal damage without combos, and he has bad positioning in fights. The best way to fix this is giving him more reliable hard cc so he can combo and so his ult wont kill him which makes me think that his w should fear enemies on 3 or so hits this would also give him a better theme with his skills and uggo looks.

Leaf of the lake1 votes

If urgot ever becomes good, he's op, so no. If you're going to give him an ad scaling on his shield, make it bonus AD and gut the base, otherwise he would just become ridiculous.

Rockoutwithmy1 votes

Why would he be OP? What about Urgot would be OP if his shield scaled with AD?

He would still have short ranged attacks. He would still be immobile. He would just be in line with other bruisers.

Tin Tarantino1 votes

Urgot's shield lasts longer and he doesn't need to get into melee range to deal damage, just almost melee range. If anything it's his ult that could use a rework. Had the idea to make him scale partially off mana a while ago, since item 3042 is pretty core on him, kinda like making him an AD version of Ryze but this has the potential to backfire horribly.
