How many Move speed items do we need in the game?
Okay. I was on board with the 8.4 changes to mage items creating essentially 4 Move speed items, one of them pretty hyper buffed.
(
Spellbinder, Twin Shadows.
That's 4 individual move speed items for mages.
Now.....
They're adding back Shurelya's Reverie Cost: 2100g Recipe: [Kindlegem + Aether Wisp + 450g] +40 AP +200 Health Unique: +10% Cooldown Reduction Unique Passive: +8% Movement Speed Unique Active: Grants yourself and nearby allies +40% Movement Speed for 3 seconds. (60 second cooldown).
What's more is, they're all reasonably cheap items, the highest being 3100g, the lowest being 2100g.
After this is back, we effectively have:
-Move speed support item -5 Move speed AP items
And, because they aren't Unique NAMED mods, they all stack.
If I had all 5 on a Nami, that's:
60% CDR with Transcendence (40 additional AP) 400-500 AP + Rune Stats 10 additional base move speed
That's 345 base move speed.
Suppose I use these runes:
Aery Manaflow Band Transcendence Gathering Storm Relentless Hunter Eyeball collection
That would put Nami at 450-550 AP, depending it actived or not.
Move speeds: (40 Relentless = 385 Base)
- 150 base without active items + 40% = 749 Move speed pre soft cap adjustments.
- 170 base + 110% move speed bonus on actives = 1,165.5 Move speed pre soft cap adjustments.
That's not even using Celerity or Waterwalking.
And on Nami she can apply the flat base move speed increase to allies and 40% of that move speed too, creating a move speed machine. Imagine Hecarim Predator on the same team as a Nami Ulting him..... You're talking ~ 800 AD ambushes by Hecarim.
When Talisman of Ascendancy was in the game, I did this trick in a duo with a Sivir: I reliably got her up to 930 Move speed in common RANKED games, and we endlessly 2v5'd teams because the Orbing we created was unreal. (and that was POST soft cap reductions).
What's more is..... this is RELIABLE, and it's actually a good Support build.
Also could be applied to
and
to create insane results.
Why are we creating such move speed monsters? Not only that, one of the items SLOWS opponents. so not only are you creating move speed monsters, but you're going to be able to slow 2 opponents so there's 0 escape.
This build costs a whopping....
14, 050 to finish.
While it's true most supports won't reach that in an average game, 11,000 is extremely reasonable and I guarantee a support can build 5 items, and even 4 items is game changing impact where opponents just can't catch a team.
What's really important to emphasize:
This is going to be where the meta leans toward because of the insane functionality of move speed to survival and engages. Meaning..... teams who don't build it will be toast.
It's going to be really annoying to do with their new "support killing minions killing all USE/REGEN of support item gold aspects" to get this kind of gold, but it's doable if you're a pro support (gonna be tough on Morg or Zyra with their penchant for getting minions; they'll have to rush T3 as soon as possible).
