Why are we nerfing items rather than Udyr

Ludens echo and boots of swiftness are being nerfed because Udyr abuses both of them. Udyr has been a jungle bully since 4.0. He is amazing at 1v1s and he has crazy movement speed escape while being tanky and dealing tons of damage. This will double nerf elise seeing as how she was already nerfed because of Ludens. This is the wrong route because not only is it nerfing the target champion Udyr but it'd nerfing every other ap jungler and anyone who uses boots of swiftness. This will put hecarim even lower on the totem pole of dumpster teir.

Meddler recently told me directly that Udyr is taking a hit in 6.4

By the way I 100% agree with you, nerfing everyone except Udyr would have been a horrendous balancing choice.

Udyr is also to be nerfed, they just released the item nerf ahead of the champion nerfs on PBE;

Neither can Yi if your team is worth anything. Ever heard of CC? The only CC Yi is immune to is slow, which is pathetic against a solid composition or higher elo team.

To be fair, Udyr did not receive any changes. He got strong solely due to the addition of Runic Echoes and the boots of swiftness meta.

Not that I think it justifies, but I can see where this comes from.

I main he hecarim and hecarim scales ap just on his w besides your suppose to fighter or cider on him. Also before this new udyr build udyr wasn't that amazing of a champion before it. It's the items he builds are besides if he gets nerfed he be trash if anything change him to ad.

Movement speed is ad for hecarim. I used to main him before they changed his passive. I do runic echos boots of swiftness triforce Phantom dancer Deadman plate and then a static shiv or ghostblade. This is how he was meant to be lol

"Udyr wasn't that amazing of a champion before". At least on this account, you've never played in any other season before. Udyr has always been a strong pick, since Season 1. I don't think there was ever a significant span of time where he wasn't a strong pick.

That said, the issues are the items, not Udyr.

What would you nerf Udyr with? Lower ap scaling for phoenix? They're already lowering the damage. Less turtle stance shield? Already being done and it's a major hit. You use turtle/bear to disengage, having less shield on turtle guarantees a better chance to get caught. The main issue people have with him is he wins against them based on item build. He's been balanced for 3 years and since people are whining about how much damage and speed he can build, he'll just keep evolving. Cinderhulk Udyr still fucks up anyone in the jungle, no one worries because people don't build Cinderhulk as often. Boots of Swiftness are going to be replaced with Boots of Mobility and people are going to keep playing him. Items are your problem. Not Udyr.

Don't lie. Udyr did not receive a movement speed buff.

Runic Echoes was introduced and Boots of Swiftness had their cost reduced; that was a change to items he could build, but Udyr's base stats were not changed.
