And this is why we have a pbe, so stuff like this does not hit live.

Edit 6/29. CudyDarkyz showed me the working as intended quote from DanielZklein on redit. Seems like its going to be in game. Also this from same Red. "We've had tons of edge of map escapes and even edge of map ganks in playtesting. We looked at them as a team and decided we like the gameplay. A LOT has to go right for you to get this kind of escape: you have to not be in combat already, and you have to not get tagged by any kind of damage. Even a single point of damage would have stopped this."

Also His E extended duration scales, so its 5 seconds at 1 point and grows to 9seconds maxed. Same duration in all forms currently on pbe. I suppose dealing with Kayn is gonna involve keeping eyes out for the Glowing shadow orb when hes inside walls.

Thank you for source Cudy good work mate.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Riot allowed this interaction to make it to the live servers.

I was told that a rioter said it was "That's working as intended"

I have not seen any response from Szymba that this is the case on the pbe boards. I'm still doing a few bug tests on Kayn and I will see if I can get a response from Riot Szymba on if this is "working as intended." (can you provide link or Screen shot to back your statement up please?)

Edit, I am talking about walking that far out of map, using E on side of map for escapes or to gank will probably be in his kit.

As a former WoW player, I'm only surprised Ghostcrawler wasn't the one to say it.

Jmman1 votes

I had to reply to this. He is the reason I quit playing Wow. (played EQ before that) Its almost like EVERY game has the same problems. CC mobility healing tanking and damage. In eq, wow, lol, cs, gw the same thing happens when you mix damage and tanks. Mobility and damage. healing and damage, etc. They all do the same thing just different names. WHAT you can't have one class doing that but another can

Ghostcralwler / Ghostwalker is like MR crabs from sponge bob. Lol is the crusty crab and he is "balancing" it for more money.

ChompyWulf1 votes

His leadership on WoW was garbage. PvP and the top 1% of raiders determined balance for an entire massive player base and ruined classes. The blatant mage favoritism...when warriors FINALLY found a way to stat, build, and top damage charts in Wrath nerfed into the ground for all of Cata, stupid OP Feral spec, face roll DKs....

Got it, thank you brah.

Source?

lol... i literally provided a VIDEO from NIGHTBLUE3

DJMason883 votes

That doesn't mean its "working as intended", its the pbe...

how am i supposed to know what he meant?

No, he's asking for the source of where a Rioter claims that it was "working as intended." He's not questioning your video at all... [slayer-jinx-unamused]

It's probably working as intended in the "letter of the law" - that there is a "wall" in terms of the game mechanics, so he can indeed phase into it, gain the movespeed buff, and so on.

Whether it's working as intended in the "intent" of the ability (being able to move through walls) is open to debate.

Personally, I think it's kinda cool (opens up an interesting lane-gank opportunity by phasing in by the allied tower and popping out in the lane bush) but the length of time you can stay phased might need adjusted.

Most walls are pretty small and this is a rather situational thing. Its not often youl be able to escape by treading the edge. Most people will just never realize they can do it.

Frankly I truly think this is just like Twitch/Evelynn gank pressure. Sure it is annoying but is it any more annoying then Twitch going invis or Talon jumping walls from one side of the map to the other? If they looked more they could see he can still be attacked while in walls by aoes.

But then it does anyways because Riot doesn't listen.

Shit like this gets through all the time.

I knew that his E would be busted as soon as I saw it. It was only a matter of time until somebody found an abuse case for it.

DrCyanide8 votes

Abuse case... or the way to use the ability for ARAMs.

LSmaster162 votes

On a sort of related note, you can actually wall hop over missing chunks of the bridge as Talon on aram so Kayn can probably also to that.

DrCyanide5 votes

Maybe in some situations (I haven't explored everything with him by a long shot), but in general Talon's wall hop feels so useless on ARAM it's kinda sad. I wish they'd reduce the time on it just so you could at least amuse yourself jumping the towers over and over again.

aLawfulFalafel1 votes

its getting to the point where aram kinda needs its own balancing, we have champs whos passives are lost mostly (or even entirely) and no power shift seems to be given to make up for it, newer champs and RWs fit into aram less and less often or well it seemstalon and ivern are the big ones comin to mind atm

Stalinium1 votes

Shyvana what is a passive???

aLawfulFalafel1 votes

omg i never knew what shyvs passive was tbh

seriously this passive explains my point perfectly, like, the passive is part of the champs power, and some champs just get empty words :*(

aLawfulFalafel1 votes

but how deep tho? talons jump doesnt seem to get as deep as bards journey can and seeing as the map widens by a lrge margin past the inhibs he could probly get real deep

Calabok8 votes

oh no you see that's working as intended

I Love Thresh5 votes

I fail to see the problem here. It's just an escape ability like another.

Karn Bishop4 votes

I dont see the issue with that, he was out of combat and that area IS a wall, if they make it so this is not allowed then bard shouldn't be allowed to set up any portals on the outer walls at all. Had he been fighting he would have only been in the wall for 2 or 3 seconds.

edit: ok he was in active combat, i think thats a bug with the duration and not with the outer wall.

Shadow form increases the duration of the E by quite a bit and increases movement speed while in terrain. Its an intended use of the ability.

Edit: @thread Whats the actual problem here? Are you guys complaining that a champion used his mobility spell in such a way that allowed him to escape a sticky situation?

Karn Bishop1 votes

ook i wasn't disagreeing with that? i agree its an intended use, however in that situation he was in active combat, he casted a spell and it did damage to enemy champions, so the duration for E should have been much much shorter, instead in that clip it acted as if he was not in active combat and gave the full duration.

Hmm.... From what i see he was out of combat. when he entered the wall.

But that section is worded vaguely, they should clarify it i think.

Karn Bishop1 votes

Dealing damage counts as entering combat, if not mobi boots would be god like, this state persists for about 5-7 seconds or so? he enters the wall at 4 seconds.

Kai Guy1 votes

Checking the vid a few times really closely It seems like it may have been a bit over 4.5 seconds and a lot of the systems in league tend to round to the nearest. Regardless 1 second sooner and this play would not have been so dramatic.

Kai Guy1 votes

Actually shadow form only gives him a fat move speed boost and slow immune. The duration when entering walls scales per point invested, 5 6 7 8 9 duration out of combat in all forms, just double checked this on pbe.

PePsiLemoNN3 votes

I bet his title was like ''THIS IS SO BROKEN OMG , LEAVING THE MAP? WHAT IS THIS DAMAGE?!11!!'' lol

Jo0o2 votes

I expected this to be possible, but not so broken. Bard can do similar, but naturally he can only go along the edge of the wall, and it's quite hard to aim his E to do so in a timely and effective fashion as an escape. It's mostly used by Bard to return to lane more quickly.

I didn't realize the "wall" extended so much. This surely can't be working as intended.

Kai Guy2 votes

Edited this post for clarity and because im a dam derp. Yea I don't think any one was aware of how far out walls went because bard requires an end point and kayn does not.

At Jooo. My bad mate, I was not questioning your understanding of bard mechanics as your post covered his outer wall E which is something only folks who are familiar with him as a champ know about. So many times adcs ignore pings when I make a nice tower to tower shortcut for them.... and this is in a semi high elo. Ever baited folks to tunnel into your fountain in a game? Feels so good when you get the triple off it lol.

Skorch2 votes

I mean im not surprised this happends nor do i think that this is just "COMPLETELY BUSTED RITO NERF."

However the Xerath E missed by a longshot, i think if he can go far enough out where he cant be hit by spells its a problem, but as long as hes targetable i think its a little dumb to think him skirting on the outside of the map is too broken.

Kai Guy5 votes

Ya lose vision on him when he is out of combat. Only the Orb which appears to as a warning is any indication he is around. so that was a blind fired shot. He is still targetable, taking any damage will reduce his E duration to 1.5 and any form of CC that interferes with movement instantly warps him out of the wall.

He didnt leave the map. He entered terrain. Its no different than if he fled into the allied tower/nexus.

Those are within the map borders, this is moving a champ beyond the playable area

Edit: a Rioter confirmed working as intended. GG

Its not beyond the playable area. Its still within the terrain. Moving beyond the playable area would be physically falling off the map. Which you can do as certain champions in specific situations.
