PSA: Your setup to fail in Promos - Random fact might make you feel better.

I keep seeing dozens of threads popping up about "Bad team-mates" in promos and how it seems your constantly at a disadvantage the moment you hit one. Well, spoilers you're not wrong - this was confirmed a long time ago by a Red.

Promos will always be hard to win - the point of promos is to prove that you deserve to be in a higher tier/division. You aren't going to get matched with the best teammates against crappy enemies. You'll be matched with people around your skill, and matched against people of the skill you're trying to promote into (at least that's the idea).

Wonder why the enemy team always seems to be better? Well, the systems designed to give you an unmatched game in promos. They want you to prove you can carry a "lesser team".

It's shitty, but I feel people need to understand why they often get a 1-10 in promos. Rather then blaming the mismatched players, blame the system instead.

It's just retarded. This whole idea is a huge flaw. Why make it so a player has to "prove being worthy" while already having matchmaking disadvantage? You could simply put that player in an ACTUAL division he is trying to promote to elo game. If he can compete together with and stand against those who are higher skill level/win against them then it's fine to promote. But I guess in a game where the worst player decides the outcome rather than the best one it's an impossible system. That player would just be a huge drawback for others. And Riot is hella lazybones when it comes to trying to think of something new rather than their busted trash matchmaking

What happens to the people matched with someone in promos then?

Why do they have to go against unbalanced teams? Seems to be a lot of one-sided matches lately...

That comment was made a long time ago though, so it's possible they've lightened that stance since then...

but if that's true, it absolutely makes sense. If I am entering gold, I should have to prove I'm able to compete with them... it shouldn't be enough for me to just prove I'm adequate against silvers.

You do not get worse teammates in promos period.

It just is not true. I have 100s of promos games to say otherwise.

Most of the time I am the worst player in my promos, not even going to lie.

Literally none of this would need to be the case if they changed to matchmaking system to reward good gameplay and punish bad gameplay.

so its Literally rigged matchmaking then? nice, confirms my suspicions

The problem isn't promos, it's promos against higher than the division you are trying to get into. Climbing on my new account? High mmr and low elo means high elo gains for wins but difficult promos to win. I'm tired of trying to get into gold vs gold 3 players.

Players flucuate. Ive carried games then reach my promos and end up messing up free combos. If that happens to me, it can happen to others. Not everyone can be 100% of the time. Its luck if your team is on point or not.

What I'm getting from this is that you need to beat people of a higher tier than you to get to the tier you just beat people in. That seems wrong to me.
