Are melees so powerful and prone to snowballing because they need to in order to compete with ranged champions?

Or did marksmen get such unholy dps just so they can compete with the melees who would otherwise crush them?

We had league of bruisers once, then we got league of ADC. Soon it will go back to bruisers I guess if nothing is done to avoid it. An endless cycle...

Let's also never ever talk about when Ranged champions are countered by Melee champions. Can't force an agenda without hiding the evidence against it right?
