This game has focused too much on action over strategy.

What i mean, is that the game as become so condensed, that long term strategy has become nearly meaningless in the average game.

I'm currently intoxicated, and i was for my last few games, yet despite what one might assume to be a disadvantage due to the inability to plan and remember long term, i have no problem playing games.

i'm trying to make this post while still handicapped to make this more clear (even though i know i will forget the topic by the end of the post). League of legends has lost too much of it's strategy. I should not be able to easily win games, playing minute by minute, when the enemy has the capacity to play 10 minutes ahead of me...

@riot, stop condensing the game. You can't keep shortening the game, and have a reasonable strategy experience. Currently, you're stuck between having an average of 25 minute games, but the game being decided by 15 minutes. If you try to reduce the feeling of having lost, then it feels like enemies can win in a single push, but the current feeling makes it feel that almost 1/2 of the time played is wasted in games which have already been lost.

The only solution which I know, is to extend game length, so that a smaller proportion of the game is spent in an hopeless circumstances.

I don't think it's completely Riot's fault. Part of the reason is the players mindset and current meta.

  • The current meta is why there's a 15 minute surrender
  • The current meta is also why people favor playing champs with strong early games over ones with strong late games
  • The current meta makes flat runes more valuable than scaling most of the time because you don't know if the enemy team won't be fed by level 7~9 when scaling becomes better than flat.

Because of the current mindset of players, people will think the game is over if one person gets fed early and will start playing more reckless to get any kills they can to get ahead. In the process, most of the time, they feed the enemy team even harder. If players didn't quickly deem a game hopeless, they could farm, play defensive, and become closer finishing their builds and becoming even with the enemy team.

Unfortunately this is is still riot's fault, because they were the ones which kept reinforcing shorter game times.

The reason snowballing is so insane, is to make games shorter. The reason towers feel so weak is to make games shorter. The reason that they added a second river objective is to make games shorter. The reason they changed dragons from gold into all aggressive multipliers (even water) was to make games shorter. The reason flat runes are meta over scaling runes, is because games have become so much shorter.

Yes, you could in theory play defensive to recover in the later game, though when the time frame, by the 12 minute mark, to win for the team who got ahead is 25 minutes, and the time frame to win for the losing team to win is 45-50 minutes. I can see why people would rather just throw the game away, and just get into the next game faster.

This is a product of riot's design decisions. It might not be riot's fault that the players are making the most logical decision for themselves, but it is their fault that those are the most logical decisions.
