Nerfing OP Champions Does Nothing In Terms Of Balance

All it does is makes a new meta.

As much as I wouldn't mind seeing Zed, Ekko and whatever other OP champion there is right now out there get beat up by the nerf bat and be Taliyah tier just so I could have a fresh taste in playing this game again, it would just be the start of a new meta, pros will find what's the next best option for their lanes and plebs like us will cling onto those popular picks and then people will start calling Brand mid OP instead of Zed, that's how League rolls.

While I agree with what you said 100%, it's also important to keep in mind that a Moba's goal is to not to create a perfectly balanced game but to intentionally shift metas.

The reasoning for this is well...there's a few. A perfectly balanced game puts them in a bind because: a) They can't change anything without screwing up the balance and angering the community and b) If they don't change it up the game becomes stale and...well...unchanging. Over time the league community would lose interest

Metas also provide with a a clear outline for the focus of the game at that time. With certain champions out-classing their peers in a role it becomes easy to accurately gauge where the game's focus is going and allows for a clearer image on balance/gameplay related functions that can be implemented.

In a weird sense, a unbalanced game is more healthy than a balanced game (although going too extreme with either side spells out a failing game) and so it's good to stand a middle-ground by creating Metas
