With the recent Balance Trends, I feel like I should quit League and start doing other stuff

I'm starting to get pretty disaffected by the recent balance trends.

I play off-meta (personally I'm a Garen main though I'm sure players that main other off meta champs will also feel this pain Yorick Urgot Udyr Teemo TahmKench Nasus Karthus Azir and many others ) and it feels SO BAD to play this game now.

I've been passionate about the game, and I like to think I've been a positive force in the community, but the meta is so strictly enforced these days. If you play a weaker champ, you face a massively uphill battle just to break even with your opponents that spam meta.

It's becoming less and less fun, and ranked is starting to feel like a chore. Patch after patch rolls out and the same champs are consistently strong, going in and out of meta, while a different set of champs is consistently left in the gutter, patch, after patch, after patch. I hold out hope that after my champ being so weak for so long, he will finally receive a buff which will make him semi-viable again, but it never happens.

I understand that Riot is a company that makes money selling skins, and the most popular champions should be the most powerful because they sell the most skins. But this leaves all the other champions in a vicious cycle where because they don't make the company money, they're left weak, so players don't play them, so they don't buy skins for them, so they never get buffed. The disparity between strong champs and weak champs is growing so large that at a certain point you're basically trolling your team by playing your favorite champion.

I'm not sure what to do but I'm starting to think playing League might not be part of it anymore. Maybe I'll go look for new games to play or other stuff to do outside.

A meta isn't enforced, you're free to play whatever you like.

Well bye then. You won't really be missed.

In the first place, you don't HAVE to play ranked. If your goal is to have fun and ranked is a chore, there's always normals.

Yea honestly it doesn't matter the season shit's always fucked on the balance side. I really dislike season 7 meta & balance. Pretty much already don't play the game that much anymore. I am fine with them changing things... just wish other champs weren't punished so hard.

Hell jungling used to make senses to me now its just annoying. Best part is they changed jungle I thought to basically make less ganking early game. But in low elo changes actually made it worse. It's pretty commical. Now if I want to have a common game where I farm a bit and have a couple casual ganks then I lose becuase if I don't gank every min or two the game pretty much over. Sad really but... welcome to League and Metas.

Yes you can play any champ but ... you put yourself at a large disadvantage even in low elo.

The reason why the offmeta champs typically aren't buffed is because when they are strong, they cause balance problems and whatnot.

As an Udyr main its a matter of adaptation. Though i will be honest, Garen is extremely weak compared to his old self. He is a monster late game, but its hard to get to that point - and he's an underdog in nearly every top lane matchup in the game right now.

Honestly, Yorick, Teemo, Tahm Kench and Udyr are extremely strong right now. The others are a little too situational to be considered as much.

I find rushing item 3047 as a first item is a must in AD oriented top lanes for immobile melee champs, so try getting that on Garen. Rush as much health as you can - damage comes secondary. Never rush black cleaver unless you get first blood.
