@Riot Garen ranks 133 out of 133 in the hands of an expert on Lolalytics
As a longtime Garen main, I've been eagerly tracking the Garen changes on the PBE. As you know, Garen has been very weak for quite some time now, but I thought I would include some data about higher brackets of play.
According to Lolalytics.com (a website sort of like Champion.gg except for Diamond+):
"Top Garen's Wordwide 46.55% Win Rate Analyzing 275 games played by the top 321 Garen players worldwide over the last 7 days. The average rank of the top Garen's was Diamond V. Taking into account win rate and summoner rank Garen is ranked 133 amongst all champions in the hands of an expert."
Garen is literally the worst champion in the game right now at higher ELO. And it's not like he's just randomly weak one patch, he's been in this state for a long, long time. The game is becoming much more mobile and burstier with the addition of new champions and items, often leaving Garen wandering aimlessly around fights, unable to run down the backline, and unable to peel for his carries, often because he simply can't keep up.
Garen's Judgement takes 3 seconds to complete, making it more of a DPS ability than a burst ability. Additionally, his Q and ultimate have very slow and telegraphed animations.
Please try to take higher brackets of play into account during the upcoming Garen buffs.
A couple of minor improvements would be reducing the cast time of his Q and R, and removing the 1s restriction on cancelling his E. Improving his attack frame to help with auto resets might be another thing that could help, and 5 more movespeed would help quite a bit with his mobility.
These changes would help more experienced Garen players, while mostly leaving lower brackets unaffected.
