Top Lane- Split Push Champions
For those that don't know,
's change to it's current stats was actually a pretty big deal since it effectively changed it to from a Mage/Support item to a Fighter/Tank/Support item. Hybrid defenses are rather strong and the passive alone can force attentions to another lane. Now that Fighters have two split pushing items (
and
), I think it is a good idea for people to start trying out the champions that rely more on split pushing than raw team fight strength, mainly in the Top Lane.
The Poster Boys
Yorick
Now that Yorick can build Banner of Command without building any stat inefficient items, the Tri-Lane Push strategy is a lot better. For those that don't know, the Tri-Lane strategy is putting the Maiden in one lane, items in another lane, and then going to the remaining lane with Yorick himself and pushing. The Maiden and items you want to put in unoccupied lanes and you want to push the lane the team is currently focusing on as Yorick. Yorick is, arguably, the strongest of the split pushers since he himself doesn't have to leave his team and then still push every lane at the same time all while providing good team fight presence by being a Juggernaut with his insanely hard hitting Q and Mist Walkers, disruption with his W, and decent AoE crowd control with his E.
Singed
The Banner of Command changes benefit Singed the most out of every split pusher since it makes it a potential item he can build since it provides Tank stats for him now. Previously, the Tank stats it provided and the effect it had just weren't worth the stats it provided. Now, he can build it and do his thing. As Singed, gold is the game and with so many of the items he usually builds now being dirt cheap in comparison to how they were before (Rylai's, Banner, etc.), Singed gets the effects they provide a lot quicker and can get going much quicker.
Tryndamere
Tryndamere is a little different since he hasn't benefitted from any changes as of recently. However, he can make decent use of Fervor for Battle since it now scales with his critical strikes. Warlord's may still be better though. Anyways, Tryndamere is still a Top Tier Split Pusher and the worth trying out. His critical strikes and in-lane sustain make for a decent champion in general, so it would be wise to revisit him, especially if he receives any beneficial changes in the coming patches.
Susan
Susan is kind of at the bottom tier of the poster children. He is simply too bad at running way and doesn't have the brute force that Tryndamere has. He is pretty easily countered as well. Never the less, his Qs still chunk towers, making him a solid threat if left alone. Smart Nasus players can make for extremely annoying opponents as every tower left unguarded turns to sand before the cane.
Honorable Mentions
Ryze
Ok, hear me out here. He isn't a poster boy because split pushing isn't why you choose him, but he can definitely perform the job of split pushing. His wave clear is exceptional and his ultimate makes for an incredible move when used for escaping. As you draw nearer to the enemy base, his ultimate can even be used to relocate minions in one lane to another to strengthen a push.
Ziggs
Be careful when against Ziggs as his usually passive lane can quickly transition into him taking every single one of the enemy turrets. His passive and his W make him able to wreck turrets in a matter of seconds late game and his R makes him able to contribute to nearby team fights even when he isn't there in a big way. He is one of the hardest to play Mages at the moment though without being Azir level, so he isn't someone to just pick up.
Shen
Split push, ultimate when a team fight starts. Not as quick at pushing lane in comparison to his fellow split pushers, but still good enough to be one.
Gangplank
From my own experience with and against these guys, they basically just farm the crap out of the early game and early-mid game, usually split pushing in that process. Life is GOLD and GOLD is life. Gangplank's blood might as well be gold because that's all he wants in life. Ultimate for gold, E+Q for gold, Masteries are made to get gold, all of it. His E+Q combo make him able to easily clear waves and his W makes him good at getting out of sticky situations. His passive makes him quite capable of killing towers and the movement speed provided makes for decent escape or chasing.
Teemo
Good luck finding this guy when you see him split pushing. If he has any vision control, his Passive will make any attempt at killing him a pretty time-consuming task, which is just what he wants. This isn't mentioning the mushrooms that will undoubtedly be surrounding the lane, but at least you can deward those with almost any item in the game that reveals wards.
Udyr
He will open the gates.

could be used in a splitpush build because 3seconds of no turret shots can be a few minions, lets you fight under turret more safely, and still gives health, armor and CD.
