I Feel Like Fiddlesticks and Nunu's Biggest Problems Stem From Mobility and CC Creep

Both of these champions were released during the game's alpha, are very immobile, and a lot of their damage is from channeled abilities (IE Drain and Absolute Zero).

When the game was in it's very early state, there wasn't a plethora of hard CC to interrupt the channels, and mobility wasn't nearly as available compared to now.

Fiddlesticks' drain is easy to escape, especially because of how fear was reworked, and is fairly easy to interrupt.

Nunu's ultimate is borderline useless today, if he doesn't fully channel it, it does next to no damage. It takes very long to channel it (3 seconds), which allows for any mobile champion to easily escape, and any champion with CC can easily interrupt it.

While Nunu is getting reworked, I think there is a way to keep his ultimate, but give it a lot more strength without removing counter play, and this solution could also be applied to Fiddlestick's drain.

Remove the self root during channel/change the channel to charge. Not every channel in the game comes with a self root effect, Rammus Q, Predator and Night's Veil all allow movement during the channel.

For Nunu, removing the self root would set him over the top, however if his movement speed was reduced by ~50% during the channel, it wouldn't become too overbearing. It would also add skill expression to using his ultimate, allowing the ability to dodge CC during his channel.

For Fiddlesticks, he would be able use his drain much better outside of jungle. However, his drain damage and heal would need some reductions, one solution would be making movement during the channel reduce the damage and heal by 50%. This would allow Fiddlesticks to use his W against champions much more reliably, without hurting his jungle.

This change applied to both champions would modernize their kits without removing their core identity, and help alleviate how much these champions struggle against mobility, while still keeping the counterplay of CC interrupting their abilities.

The problem with removing those weaknesses is that you would need to give them serious nerfs in other areas that they are completely ridiculous at. You're right with the fact that their kits are old but this applies to both the weaknesses and strengths that those kits have.

Fiddlesticks for example has a point and click CC ability that is therefore undodgeable and lasts a total of 2.25 seconds at max rank on only an 11 second CD at max rank or 6.05 seconds with 45% CDR. I can't think of a single other champion who has such a long hard CC on a regular ability.

Abilities that were this strong were completely normal back in the beta/season 1 days but hardly exist at all anymore. Most hard CCs now are either tied to some type of skill shot/terrain hit/charge up effect and definitely wouldn't last that long.

Yes I agree that Fiddlesticks' fear is a bit unhealthy. But the way it was reworked makes it a bit counter intuitive with his drain, as it causes them to move away from him, making it harder to get a good use of his W. Which is why I'd prefer his W to be more consistent at the cost of less damage. Honestly his kit probably needs a rework, albeit not a full rework, I think his Q and E should be changed to non point-click CCs.

Nunu is getting reworked after Akali (really hyped for it from what they teased)

Fiddlesticks on the other hand...

I did acknowledge that Nunu is getting reworked, however I was hoping his ultimate could be kept without it remaining borderline useless.

I mean fiddles is fine yea enemies can run away from your drain but they did actually give fiddles a passive that increases your movement speed when standing still for a bit to help him be able to stick to targets. My biggest issue with nunu though isn't really his ult I mainly just wish nunu's Q could be used on champions with reduced damage/ healing or something so that its not useless if theres nothing for you to eat lol.

Their issue isn't that they're immobile, nor is it "mobility creep".

The fact is that they're just point and click statchecks. There is no skill expression to them at all. Their only missable ability is their ult, which has such a massive radius that it's basically impossible to miss. There's not even anything to time correctly on them, meaning even Sona and Garen have more skill expression in their kits than Nunu and Fiddle combined.

There's no timing, there's nothing dodgeable, there's basically nothing you can fuck up on them, except for pressing Zhonya's at the wrong time on Fiddle.

That's the source of their problem.
