Hydra / Death's Dance / Sterak's Feels Too Strong Together

item 3074 item 3812 item 3053

Is it just me or can you build these 3 items together on just about any champion and be really strong?

I've tried these core items on many champions... Riven, Lee Sin, Katarina, Wukong, Nasus, Volibear.. No matter what champion I build them on they feel like they are just way too powerful together.

Am I the only one who has noticed this?

Hydra and Death's Dance have good synergy, indeed.

However, Sterak's does not fit as much - most of the champions you mentioned thrive on bonus AD ratios, whereas Sterak's shtick is that it increases base AD. Also, with that much Lifesteal from the other two items, you'd want some increased resistances to increase the value of the HP you got back.

Hydra synergises really poorly with Deaths Dance. Deaths Dance's lifesteal is converted to '' heal a % of physical damage'' while Hydra synergyses with the stat lifesteal.

Ravenous Hydra: ''Passive: 50% of total lifesteal is applied to damage dealt by this item''

death's dance heals off all physical damage which of course includes hydra's damage

My feelings are those 3 items just give TOO much of everything.. like with those 3 items you have

1.) CDR 2.) Damage Reduction 3.) Shield 4.) Lifesteal 5.) Heal on abilities 6.) AoE Damage 7.) Base Damage 8.) Bonus Damage 9.) Health 10.) Range Increase (From Sterak's proc)

With just 3 items you gain basically every stat that you need both offensively, defensively, and utility.

These 3 items give you so many things that you can basically build them on ANY melee and be really strong.

  1. Death's Dance is NOT DAMAGE REDUCTION.

Technically, yes it is. If someone hits you for 200 damage you only receive 170 of that damage immediately. Therefore, it DID reduce damage. Of course naturally, the damage is then dealt back to you over time however it heals on both creeps, neutral monsters, and champion so the DoT isn't really too relevant unless you are close to dying.

If you Shunpo with Katarina and get hit, you would only take 140 damage out of 200 damage up front. That's a pretty massive damage reduction amount that most people probably wouldn't consider.

Yes, it works on Katarina believe it or not Kat scales incredibly with AD. Both her W and her R scales more AD than it does AP so basically you can get away with building only a little AP and focus on more AD. Not to mention her E gives 15% damage reduction, Death's Dance increases that to 30%.
