Regardless of Post-Rylai´s Changes, Heimer Needs a Buff

Currently, Heimerdinger´s win rate sits at 48%... at a 0.75% pick rate. It is really sad to see one of the funner champions in LoL so weak and I really wish he would get a buff. Somehow, the Donger needs to be buffed.

Also, fyi, he has similar win and play rate in both Mid AND Top.

I'd say he needs a rework more than making him better at what he does. What exactly does he do in lane? He sets up a turret nest and sits there and autopushes until the turret falls. You're punished hard for interacting with him, and he's ungankable. His point-blank stun and auto-targetting turrets basically mean that you can't do anything to him unless you have some kind of position displacement like Blitz/Darius and can grab him out of his turret nest. Or a very long range like Xerath or Syndra and can actually kill his turrets from out of their range. And since his rework a lot of other champs are way better at autopushing than he is, while also offering other stuff to the team as well.

He would do well to have some kind of skillshot targetting mechanism like Urgot to make him more interactive and less of a "Welp it's Heimer, if I don't kill him by the time he's lv 5, time to sit and farm until 20 minutes." It's the same shpiel as old Morgana and current E-max Nasus. It's a very boring playstyle to have to play against.

Actually, about 50% of champions in Middle Lane can outrange his turrets with their basic attacks (turrets have 525 basic attack range) and about all of them can kill them with spells, usually in 1-2 shots if the spell is Rank 2 or above. I agree he needs a rework, but even Urgot was buffed before he got a rework and Heimer´s rework, if it is coming at all, is very far off. Just not buffing someone because they will EVENTUALLY get a rework is a bad reason unless they are VERY unhealthy for the game (see Yorick and Poppy pre-rework). Heimer, in my opinion, is not unhealthy if you think of everything else in the game.

I guess, but if youre picking the other 50%, you just have to sit under turret until he pushes the wave into you. Even if you do pick one of the characters you say outranges his turrets, he can rebuild them and stun you for autoing them. He encourages a very passive, boring playstyle the way he is.

He -could- be a really great, interactive, fun to play as/fun to play against champion, with blocking off choke points with turrets, and providing team-wide utility, like dispensers and teleporters, like the Engineer in TF2, and these would fit his theme of the inventor a lot more than just a onetrick engineer who only makes turret guns and nothing else. He could have his own items in the shop for building said items, and using his ult would enhance said invention.

But no, I don't think anyone would want Heimer to be better at his current playstyle except for the Heimer player.

I do, and I don´t commonly play Heimer. I would prefer at least one champion that promotes a more passive early game.

No. Heimer needs a rework. He is by far the least interesting minion mancer and the higher you go the worse he is. Riot really could play up his inventor theme better. A real passive and a new ult could really work wonders for this champion.

Gotcha, we´ll just let him rot in the trash can until then.

He's been there for a while already so nothing new I guess

But he's not even in a bad place - he has a role, he's good at it, and he rewards people who stick with him. He has a decent rate of success, and he's not a weak champion by any means. He is -very- good vs champs who don't have excellent wave clear, or a short range.

If he was sub 45% winrate or whatever, you'd have a point, but he's good at what he does. Heimer's been a point of contention before and when he was the best at what he did, he was a perm-ban because nobody liked playing against such an oppressive, boring character.

You're alone in wanting a more passive early game champion. A safe champion is one thing, Lux for example, but a champ that basically forces you to do nothing but farm the entire laning phase is not what people in this game want.

I've made several posts about the Donger. I think the biggest thing he needs is more threat vs divers/teamfights late game.

Some examples: Turrets within shooting range of eachother provide defense boosts. Turrets deal more dmg to champions that are targetting them. Damage amp to the same target over a period of time. Be able to pick up and move turrets (even if a turret was worth 1/2 a CD reset on pick up instead of a full reset). This would need some tuning but it's really frustrating to be absolutely uselss for 2+ minutes after you sieged an area. E has always seemed unnecessarily clunky. Heimer passive promotes a non interactive playstyle.
