As a support main can we buff Sona

I feel like she is in a bad spot and needs buffs.

She has received nothing but nerfs and hasn't been played in LCS in forever!! Buff her damage so she can actually lane solidly again! She's outclassed by every other support in the game besides like Taric who is getting reworked soon.

Signed,

A support main XD

I feel for all the people saying Sona needs some love at the moment, but I have to say I'm not convinced that she just needs more damage. From what I've read recently, it honestly seems like being the best lane poke support just isn't all that valuable at the moment. I'll admit it could just be that poke could be a powerful lane strategy for her and she doesn't have the numbers to do it reliably, but I feel like giving her something powerful she is best at once the laning phase has ended would do her a ton of good in the long run. I frequently read about how her lane damage just isn't what is used to be, and that she needs it to perform. It could be true that she needs her lane damage to be higher, but her contribution to the game probably shouldn't be downhill from there, unless we try to push a direction akin to "Sona is the lane bully support." I really don't see that being a good solution, though, because many of the concerns about Sona come from high elo players, and game tend to have shorter laning phases the higher elo they are played in.

Buff her damage... that's the one thing she doesn't need buffed.

I don't think she's exactly terrible, but is still pretty underwhelming so a couple love tap buffs would be nice

She is in fact by far one of the most difficult supports to play, not only do you have to position, or ward, you have to know how to point and click as well

I agree, she's terrible, currently sitting around 41% winrate and no one plays her, they should make her R point and click and her W heal for 20% of the target HP, with that retarded mana cost at least needs to heal that much

Not sure how long you played League. But long ago there was a holy beacon named Shurelia. She was the goddess of supports and back then, sustain and supporting thrived. Since her disappearance Riot has ground supports into the ground.

Currently she sitting at #5 for win rate and #6 for damage dealt among supports according to champion.gg and she's been that highly rated for a LONG time. Just because she's not seeing LCS play does not mean she should be getting buffs.

Sona is an all-around champion.

She has engage, disengage, team fight ability, poke/damage, and sustain. The only reason they're lower than other champs and she has high mana costs is because she's got such an overloaded kit. I guess they just didn't want another Riven or Yasuo with a super overloaded kit and no mana costs, nor really concern in the kits comparison to other champs' kits.

Imagine Sona with the sustain of Soraka, the poke of Karma, or heck maybe even Brand, the engage of a Righteous Glory or Sivir ult, and the CC of an Alistar. It'd be pretty OP, right?

Her damage is already the highest off all not-mage supports statistically, and thats with outsourcing some damage on allies(if your adc uses the Q damage proc, it counts as him dealing the damage for stattistics)http://champion.gg/statistics/#?sortBy=general.totalDamageDealtToChampions&order=descend&roleSort=Support

Her damage is perfectly fine, her overall performance seems also to be quite well, her winrate increases towards 40 min, so her impact outside off lane seems to be quite high aswell. She's a beast in aram, which suggests that her scaleing with gold/xp is pretty high and her teamfighting/siegeing is awsome. I guess most sonas invest to little gold into AP, especially sheen(yes, i said it, supports should sometimes invest gold into ap!(obviously after gp/5+sightstone))

The only real problems of Sona are:

  • no big cc pre 6, so little synergie with ganks till then
  • very vulnerable, squishy, low mobillity, no hard cc pre 6, rather big hitbox. Combined with the high popularity of skillshot->all in supports like nauti, blitz and leona, this is a huge problem for her Her winrate vs blitz is only 46.6%(compared to 52.3 overall), 48% vs nauti, but 58% vs annie, 59% vs tham, 57% vs shen/tarik/bard

I honestly don't think she needs buffs, maybe add some more self-defense to her, but slightly lower her damage to make her a bit less risky, but any straight buffs would end with her beeing broken if she plays in a good matchup, and probably beeing overall to strong.

Also, whenever i play her my self/play with her, i don't feel like she lacks damage in any form or is weak, she just is pretty damn dead if she ever floats out off position...

Holy shit there are actually people in this thread that want massive buffs to Sona

What a fucking joke

Sona is literally the most anti-fun support to play against in the entire game

Say whatever you want about Thresh, Leona, Blitzcrank, but if you dodge their skillshots they're fucking worthless outside of melee range

The fuck do you do against Sona? She burns down your health from level 1 when minion aggro is too strong for you to retaliate as a melee support, and by the time you can do something your health is too low.

That is the reason Sona can't be good. Because she's simply the easiest support to play while also being the least fun to play against.

After reviewing her kit, I think that her E is definately the problem. It is a lack luster ability overall because of item 3069 item 3800 and Sivir, which all do the same thing but much better. Nothing else in the game is like sonas q,w or ult, but her e is just a movement buff. In this day and age of having interesting and over loaded kits, song of celerity doesn't quite cut it. My suggestion would be to change the active to "sona AND her allies gain movement for 1.5 seconds" and adding something to the passive part. Maybe it gives a temporary aura of 25% tenacity?

Also "extends the duration of her aura for each ally she aids" is on all her basic abilities. I believe this small additional perk is not needed, since you are already going to benefit from buffing as many allies as possible. Just my 2 cents

Same for Nami.

Shonjl8/15/2015, 7:36:40 AM1 votes

Well think of it like this, she is weak in lane since she is meant to be a team support, her heals are weaker than Raka and Nami since she heals more than one person. If Raka heals someone for say 300 but to 1 person, Sona heals 150 but to several. You can't have AoE MS buff or healing but complain it isn't as strong as single target. Plus she has the best poke.

Just cause she isn't in the LCS doesn't mean she is crap. If anything blame Thresh/Blitz for being so OP and being picked/banned in every LCS, Ranked, Normals game.
