6-3-9 Kennen. Hourglass, Deathcap, Needlessly Large Rod. Entire enemy team is around 30% health, my ult just came up, and Janna's ult is down. There isn't any better situation for me to ult in.

I ult, flash into them, and immediately Surge and Zhonya. Two Maws and a Steraks proc, the ADC mobilities out, they all survive with 20% health, and I die instantly out of Zhonya.

How is this okay? This shit is so out of hand that I can't even kill champions at 30% health with that much AP and advantage.

Well first of all whether kennen is strong currently or not the Zhonya's + ult interaction probably shouldn't exist on him and the other champions that can currently use it ( Morgana Fiddlesticks Swain ).

Second of all it's your fault for rushing into a enemy team solo without looking at what items they have built and without know if the sterak's / maw passive hasn't already been blown.

You made a bad call and then came to the forums to complain about it and found something else to blame rather than admit it.

OP if it's true that the entire enemy team was at 30% health and you were decently far ahead then; Ult Flash + Zhonya's was very poor thought out play on your part. Zhonya's made you stationary making your ult just too easy to get out of. When they're that low a flash, ult, E, (now they can't get away) W, Q whoevers left alive would've done the trick. Though that's just my opinion. [slayer-jinx-wink]

You can argue that he made a bad move but that doesn't change the point that Maw and Sterak's are OP items that need to be severely nerfed. The argument that they are the only defensive items that seem to function in a defensive capacity is not a bad one; but it does show Riot is losing focus on their balance changes. Every champion in the game didn't need an additional damage proc for landing three attacks in a row and we don't need two massive shields procing on every marksman, jungler and bruiser in the game.

Crit % is easier to come by. Maw has sustain on it. Sterak's proc comes with increased damage as well. Sustained damage is still high thanks to end game Fervor of Battle. And remember, a dead ADC does no damage.
