Pure Solo queue and Season Rewards

Back in season 4 I recall a buddy reaping the plat border (was low silver in solo queue) after playing ranked 3s with his plat and diamond friends. I don't know if that's been addressed, but I firmly believe borders and other season rewards should be awarded solely based on their solo queue performance, not by whichever ranked elo you're highest in.

As it stands now, open-party dynamic queue hardly measures the level of someone's individual skill. Riot Lyte justified this by claiming that grouping up with your buddies makes the game more competitive. But it's clearly done the opposite, making it easier for boosting parties to gather up as a premade with absolutely no effect on their LP gains/losses. Whether it affects your mmr is hardly relevant, because at the end of the season the boostie will still have the ranked rewards, even if he/she has to call upon their high elo friends again to boost them for another season a few months before it ends. If you have to queue up with other people to help climb in your placements, you're really not playing ranked for the right reasons. Most of us aren't going for LCS material, but those gold+ rewards should be earned by oneself.

Example : a former friend of mine was at bronze 3 0 LP, on like a 35% winrate and consistent. Suddenly, groups up with 2 gold-plat smurfs, and gets boosted to bronze 2 44 LP and climbing at a 60-something % winrate. But you know, that's "balanced" and somehow indicative of his skill (sarcasm (, despite having 30% kill participation and mediocre numbers.

I've played since the end of season 3 and I've noticed this game's slowly given up on players who make great impacts carrying the game through their mechanical skill. Because while teamwork should always be important, it's not right that we have a scoring system for some reason and don't use it to measure LP gains/losses either. But that's a slightly different story.

So, a Pure Solo Queue, where you can more accurately measure up every player's mechanical adeptness and teamwork, and the return of ranked 3s and 5s. Because again, if you're going to play ranked with friends, then you should either have more severe LP losses for losing despite having the premade advantage, or be ranked in a separate queue, which would not grant borders and the free skin (though still grant the icon.)

Come on Lyte, you said PSQ would be released "in the coming weeks" over two months ago. And there's been very little sign of progress.

So, limiting ranked rewards to solo queue might make sense for SR, since there actually is will be a solo queue there. What about Treeline? Unless there's either an exclusive skin reward there (which would introduce more work for Riot) or a solo queue is added (which has its own issues to be discussed elsewhere), Treeline players would be arbitrarily blocked from getting rewards. If the argument is that TT players can simply play SR for ranked rewards, that massively undermines competitive TT's legimitacy. Given that there is no LCS-style events for TT, there'd essentially be no reward for doing well on Treeline and little reason for players to become good at Treeline.
