Frozen Heart and Thornmail; Which one is the better?

I am speaking of both. Of course there is item 3143 , which is the best overall armor item. I am speaking of item 3110 and item 3075.

For a long time I have been taught how Frozen Heart is better than Thornmail in every aspect, but nowadays I realized that while the attack speed reduction aura from Frozen Heart is by no means bad, it isn't that amazing. Frozen Heart alone does not significantly reduce the enemy's attack speed to make it worth, and some ADC are capable of outranging the aura. Not to mention that it's useless against casters.

On my opinion the main reason to buy Frozen Heart over Thornmail is not the aura, but the cooldown reduction and the mana. Otherwise Thornmail is better. The passive damage is needed nowadays to counter the ADC's ridiculous amounts of lifesteal, and to be able to deal more sustained damage to them in the event that they do not have lifesteal. Not to mention that Thornmail not only is cheaper, but it has no wasted stats to any champion that wants to buy it, whereas to buy Frozen Heart, manaless champions would have to waste gold on mana items, which do not provide any benefit to them.

What do you think about that?

FH is more offensivly geared, in that it gives you more mana to stay in a fight longer, and more CDR to get your spells off. If you're someone like Irelia, or Jax, this is good for you. Also if the enemy team only has 1 primary AD damage person, you woudln't want to get thornmail, but FH would still be viable for the CDR and Mana. However if you're a dedicated Damage soak, and the enemy has at least 2 AD damage dealers, Thornmail would probably be your better pick.

FH effects every enemy. Thornmail only affects whoever is hitting you (like randuins).

I guess it depends on who you are going up against. General ad damage I would say FH because they aren't autos. Thornmale would be really good against champs like Tristana because most of her damage comes from her auto attacking you to death

Neither is better then the other. It is situational. FH is great if you want the Aura, but it also helps with the CDR/mana as you said. Thornmail is your go to when you are the ADC's main target. If the game is early enough(or you are fed enough) it will make them never want to AA you. The downside though is that Thornmail is only good against people who AA you, making it a poor buy as your first item. With FH you could possibly rush it.

Frozen heart is way WAY better than Thornmail, partly due to it's obscene CDR. I believe without the aura, it is 140% efficient, compared to THornmail, with is about 95% efficient without its passive, the damage from which is nearly negated with any lifesteal item, or their defensive item. You'll usually only see it as a 6th item.

Thornmail is the best tank item in the game.. but only if ur gonna 1v1 their adc or they have aa based champs likeJax Yasuo Nasus but i main mundo so im biased :P against nasus i rush thornmail..
