Here's the thing about Assassins being ran as tanks

Eventually as you play characters like , , or pre nerf , you'll notice that you may not help very much late game because everyone on the enemy team is tanky and your burst just isn't enough to kill them. Now you know your only option is to somehow make yourself stay in the fight longer. And you do this by building tanky. The above champions just happen to have kits that allow this to happen. People build tank Ekko and tank Akali to be better team players. Even as you're fed as assassin Ekko or Akali, late game everyone just groups and you'll be lucky to get even one kill. These are not intended things these champions designs.

These champions build tank because being a squishy melee in game full of ranged nukers isn't smart. + Riot keeps nerfing their damage so that they can't 100-0 you so why would you even try to build damage to do a job you can't do when you can build these overpowered defense + damage items and not die instantly when you try to function? Akali shroud is shit and if you think it's good then god help you. Ekko would be great if he couldn't be CC locked down and exploded. You can run ekko while building damage but let's be real damage ekko is about as effective as tanky ekko especially when he isn't ulting anyone not silver or lower. Fiora. Well she got dunked. Now she sucks no matter what you do so uh yeah for not balancing.

These champions also have ways to avoid damage entirely and should be utilizing that instead of building tank.

If you need to build tank to do well with those champions, then I have to question your skill with them.

That's also true. I think really people do what it takes to win rather than showing skill, which is why these builds have seen rises in popularity.

As far as akali's way to avoid damage entirely, you're probably referring to her shroud.. A. The game is full of aoe damage. and B. Pink ward op.

Thanks for that mate :) I had annie in mind, but as you have listed there are many,btw lee alone counters akali incredibly hard XD

I mean if you play them like actual assassins, the enemy shouldn't be alive long enough to do anything to you. Playing assassins is all about timing. You can't just run in and blow your load and expect a kill without dying every time.

True, not arguing against that. All i'm saying is that these people are playing to win, and if going tank does that then thats what they'll do. I personally run ekko as an assassin but to each his own.
