Where should I put pink wards?

I really like the new pink wards. The idea of them being eternal is really fun. But as they are also visible and easily destroyed, they don't fit every place...

So my question is: Which locations are good for the pink wards to be placed and why?

The answer is going to "it's situational" dependent on if you are ahead or behind. The first simple rule is going to be in a bush.

Common places to put it are.

  1. The L shaped bush next to your team's red(Arcing towards Dragon/Baron)- purpose is to prevent or at least punish invasion.
  2. The small patch of the bush next to Dragon/Baron - purpose is to see on going traffic and prevent ganks.
  3. The bush between your tower and raptors - purpose is to prevent diving and generally you can catch some free wards your enemies place down. This is a very defensive ward.
  4. Next to blue buff bush - purpose- helps tell if the enemy has intent to snipe your blue or toad.
  5. used to Deward Dragon/Baron Pits - purpose- self explanatory
  6. The Tri-Bush if you are on Blue Bottom or Red/Purple Top. Purpose- serves as a defensive post, prevents dives and it does show an avenue to your team's jungle.
  7. The very edge of the river - purpose is to generally deny the enemy of vision. con- you generally have to be aggressive otherwise they can pop the ward.
  8. The L shaped bush between your Blue and Baron/Dragon(Blue/Red) - purpose is to avoid putting it at 2 so they don't see it.

Pink Warding 1/4/6/8 generally blocks most ways into your jungle.

"New"? They've been around for a rather long time at this point.

Since visible, usually in bushes. The little tufts on either side of the river tend to be common places (although common means they tend to be found), the bush behind either sides red is good for jungle intel, and the tribush on either side of the map are all useful places for them. They'll eventually get found and cleared in most cases, but the vision is frequently useful for avoiding ganks.

I've been experimenting myself with these pink wards and found a few places that work for me. I admittedly use these wards primarily as long term wards, not as much "get vision while destroying enemy wards" or "this will keep me indefinitely warded until I get ganked once" wards. Just to clarify, my placement will be explained via jungle buffs and not lanes as the jungle's orientation changes which lane you're in based on which team you're on.

  1. If you're in the Red Buff Lane, I like to place a pink ward in the bush across from brambleback. If you place it on the outermost tip of that bush, you get that whole intersection warded, effectively warding red buff as well, and nobody is likely to walk into that bush for a long while if both mid turret and red turret are up when you place it.

  2. If you're in the Blue Buff Lane, I like to place a pink ward in the bush immediately behind your turret. That will let you know if the enemy jungler is about to try and dive you under tower, and if they take a second to clear it, that would be enough time for your jungler to come and assist if they are in that quadrant. This ward is likely to last as long as your turret but occasionally enemies will retreat after taking your tower, so your ward has the chance to last quite a while there too.

  3. If you're in the mid lane, I like to place a pink ward in the bush behind Blue Buff/on the edge of the river. If you place it on the outermost tip of that bush, you can know whenever the enemy jungler walks into the backside of the mid bush and can help your jungler know if the enemy team is marauding around in your jungle, albeit probably once. An observant Blue Buff Lane will also be able to see the enemy jungler walk their way with this ward and be able to act appropriately.

  4. (and on) If you have an empty slot and it's late in the game with some of your turrets destroyed, fallback warding spots include (in order of descending quality) the outermost tip of the bush immediately outside your team's Red Buff side base gate as that gives you quite a bit of vision around your base, behind your team's base gates (to let your team destroy wards the enemy team throws over your wall), on top of your nexus turrets so that an enemy champ can choose to waste a few attacks on that instead of the game-winning objective right in front of them, and finally the bush right in front of your second tier Blue Buff Lane turret as you can make a few silly teamfight happen around that area with that warded.
