Possible AP Champion Changes Post AP Item Change Patch

I wanted to take a look and TRY and give an insight on what will most likely be nerfed if Riot goes forward with these AP Item changes. Since the item changes are better for the whole Mage group with a few people to the side that might go over the edge with them, I think these changes are probably going to be what Riot changes with these changes.

Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Passive- Aspect of the Serpent

  • 500 Stacks AP Bonus reduced to 25% from 30%

Noxious Blast

  • AP Ratio reduced to 40% from 45%

Twin Fang

  • AP Ratio reduced to 50% from 55%
  • Base Damage changed to 60/80/100/120/140 from 55/80/105/130/155

CONTEXT: The passive change almost needed to happen with the Rabadon's change. Then, with the Liandry's Torment buff and Rylai's buff, her AP Ratios on her Q and E will most likely be slightly nerfed and the base damage on her E slightly nerfed late game since she will most likely have more AP late game than before even with the passive nerf. This will probably keep at her current power level, which is overall balanced but still a threat.

Malzahar Malzahar Malefic Visions

  • Mana Cost reduced to 50/60/70/80/90 from 60/75/90/105/120
  • AP Ratio reduced to 70% from 80%
  • Now deals 5/7.5/10/12.5/15% increased damage to minions

CONTEXT: To summarize this up, Malzahar's late game Malefic Visions will be slightly less oppressive with the load of more AP he will be getting late game, but he will have an easier time using it to farm and gain mana from minions throughout the game. He will also be able to use it a little more before running out of mana.

Rumble Rumble Flamespitter

  • Base Damage reduced to 60/120/180/240/300 from 75/135/195/255/315
  • AP Ratio reduced to 30% from 33% (Total to 90% from 100%)
  • (Enhanced Damage is now 90/180/270/360/450 (+135% AP) from 112.5/202.5/292.5/382.5/472.5 (+150% AP))

The Equalizer

  • Base Damage reduced to 120/175/230 per second from 130/185/240 per second
  • AP Ratio reduced to 25% per second from 30% per second
  • (Total Damage reduced to 600/875/1150 (+125% AP) from 650/925/1200 (+150% AP))

CONTEXT: Since all of Rumble's core items basically got buffed with this, he will be hitting like a truck, namely with his Q and R. Therefore, he will be getting hit decently hard in both sections. Simple as that.

Ryze Ryze

Spell Flux

  • Secondary AP Ratio reduced to 12.5% from 15%

CONTEXT: The Ryze buffs are pretty well hidden in those changes, I can give them that. However, he is getting a decent buff with the AP and mana buffs to Rod of Ages and Archangel's. Therefore, he gets some small AP ratio nerfs.

Swain Swain Torment

  • AP Ratio reduced to 70% from 80%

CONTEXT: I'm not too certain with Swain, but I can guess that he MIGHT get a small nerf to his E's damage in some way with the damage buffs to his various items. Not entirely sure about this one though.

Teemo Teemo (Satan) Toxic Shot

  • AP Ratio for On-Hit reduced to 25% from 30%

Noxious Trap

  • Mana Cost changed to 100 at all ranks from 75/100/125
  • Base Damage reduced to 200/300/400 from 200/325/450

CONTEXT: Teeeeeeeeeemoooooooooo. This guy is gonna sting after these changes. No doubt about it. However, there is some things we can do to reduce his sting. First off, his ultimate mana cost can be higher early game to make it so it is more restrictive in lane to plant a fight changing mine. We can also reduce the base damage late game so they aren't chunking ADCs again. Finally, his Toxic Shot has a slight on-hit damage nerf. Nothing too big, but something to keep it in it's place. Teemo will still be doing overall more damage, which is ok since he currently isn't considered "in the meta", but he shouldn't be some giant threat.

Vladimir Vladimir Transfusion

  • AP Ratio reduced to 50% from 60%
  • Base Health Regained reduced to 10/15/20/25/30 from 15/25/35/45/55

Sanguine Pool

  • Base Damage reduced to 75/125/175/225/275 from 80/135/190/245/300
  • Bonus Health Ratio reduced to 12% from 15%

CONTEXT: Vladimir is gonna be a stone wall after these changes. He is going to be so hard to get out of a fight, its going to be disgusting. Therefore, he gets some decent AP Ratio nerfs to his Q, reduce healing on his Q, and reduced overall damage on his W to bring him back in line.

Ziggs Ziggs, Xerath Xerath, and Brand Brand

Keep a definite eye on these guys Riot. These guys are kind of uncertain for if they will be too powerful to me, but they might so... you know. Monitor them closely.

Thanks for reading. Tell me below if you think I missed anyone.

I honestly don't see the Rumble fear. item 3151 + 30 AP, item 3157 - 20 AP, net change = +10 AP. Are people really that scared of 10 AP on him?

Aaravos1 votes

His powerspike will be very huge after item 3151 this is why they scared. And at the end it is a buff to a champion who is already top tier.

His power spike will shift, a little, but I don't think it will be as bad as people are making it out. Do you panic over a item 3151 + item 1052 Rumble now? Because that's about what this will be, but it will cost about 300 gold less.

Yeah, no offense, but I dont think you are seeing this. He can just get Liandry's and have 80 AP, which is really big with his ratios and such early game. He can then go Rylai's and get more stick than he does now. He also gets about 50 more AP late game, which isnt much then. I have played Rumble a LOT and trust me, he is already nearly too strong right now. This is only going to buff him to be really strong.

i am not panic. I just said an already strong champion get buffs with it. It's not a very huge buff but still a buff and Rumble is already at the edge of the broken tier.

No, no, no. They are scared because he builds item 3135 , item 3151 , and sometimes item 3116 . This is actually a pretty decent buff for him item wise and he was already borderline.

OK, lets look at what these items do for Rumble.

item 3151 - Helps his DoT hurt more, and makes his E and R hurt like none other. These things are unchanged, but the item as a whole gains an extra 30 AP for 100 gold. Personally, I don't think it's worth finishing Liandries until after Hourglass right now, as it doesn't make enough of a dent. item 3135 - Again, magic pen helps the DoT. This is unchanged. What is changing is that it gives an extra 10 AP for 200 gold. item 3116 - Used for it's tankiness and it's synergy with Liandries. This is unchanged. What's changed is that you'll **potentially spend more time in his Q and R. How big of a problem this is will depend on how many other champions pick up Rylai's. If Rumble's being slowed by more than he's slowing you, then this is a non-issue. item 3157 - Sitting with your Q and R doing damage while you're in stasis is a great feeling. This is unchanged. It's loosing 20 AP for loosing 300 gold.

Personally, I'm more worried about the champions that will be building new items, not champions that will be sticking to their same old build. How hard is it going to be to kill a Viktor like if he has item 3152 ? Are you ever going to escape an Annie if she has item 3116 ?

he is rather op at the moment and i think we will see a lot of item 3116 item 3151 that will make I'm insanely strong. but but we will see

I can see Cass and Teemo getting some small to decent nerfs depending on how this effects them. Thats why I kind of held back on some of the others. Malzahar is a bit of a mystery because he doesnt get played much, but is actually really strong.

The Rylai's buff is going to make anyone with spamable abilities need a nerf.

Karthus will probably get one given how he only will have to land 1 Q to permaslow you into oblivion.

Good luck ever escaping a Xerath Ult now.

Morg W will now make sure she never misses a Q, ever, lowering her already blow skill cap. (But this is a nerf overall because sit buffs everyone else)

Basically Rylai's turns every spell-pamming mage into an ashe-like slow monster.

You see, Karthus isnt a big threat right now, so I dont think this will just make him completely broken. He will at most be a threat that you need to look out for, but thats what all champions should be. I said look out at Xerath for that exact reason actually. Well, I didnt say it, but it was obvious what all those champions had in common. As you said, its not really a buff to Morgana. She isn't exactly weak, but not exactly borderline right now either. She might get a minuscule nerf, but most likely not.

Spell spamming champions, sure. They got buffed. But name some that are currently really bad right now besides Cass, which I talked about.
